Anyone use Harry's Lap Timer App?

I'm looking to use my iPhone video and interface with a track app and Harry's is recommended by a few people I see at the track. But I know little about these things.

Anyone have any experience with any track app? If so...
- Do I only need my phone and the app?
- Is it easy to use? I am technologically challenged!
- Any suggestions on a robust phone mount that will work for track applications?

Yes, I use Harry's Lap Timer. It's a great app and very easy to use. I don't use a windshield mount. I simply put it in the cup holder and let it rip.

Thanks. So you don't use your phone for video then? What version of Harry's do you have? Petrolhead, Rookie or Grand Prix?

I recommend and external GPS to make it more accurate. I found it varies quite abit from official timing using just the iphone GPS. There are recommendations of what to use here

I use a XGPS150.

Yep.

RAM Mounts.

Example of my video using the app.

it is a great app, and I like it better than a solo.

One caveat is you need to get an external gps (10ghz) to be accurate, iphone is only 1ghz refresh and not that accurate, I also paired mine with a bluetooth obd2 reader and you get tons of data to review and overlay

Is the external GPS hard to use/sync up with Harry's and the iPhone? Or is this sort of a seamless do-it-once-and-forget-it thing?

I need an Idiots User Guide!

yeah once it is synced you just turn it on, Bluetooth, on iphone 6 I can have like 6 or 8 devices connected at once or something. So ob2 sensor and external gps are Bluetooth, and they connect when the phone is nearby.

Harrys automatically recolonizes and your on your way.

Nope.....I use a GoPro for video and Harry's for data. I just use the rookie version at this point.

I use the Perrolhwad version just with my phone. I plan to eventually sync a Go Pro and OBDII and GPS device with it. I haven't found the right GPS device yet. I thought I read you can use a navigation GPS with it somehow but haven't figured that one out.
