Bump Stops

Is it required/recommended to cut the bump stop when installing lowering springs? Trying to figure out where the weird noise is coming from after I swapped my springs....

Iso's maybe not seated properly. Does it sound like a squeak or loose boult from sway bar end link or something. If you did not tighten the strut to enough ft/lbs then on the rebound you may get some clunking.

describe the sound and i might be able to help.

If your springs were properly designed with minimum drop and increase in rate, you should not have to touch your bump stops.

If the rates are progressive and drops the car too low, cutting the bump stop is a band aid fix to a real problem, but it is your only fix other than replacing the springs.

With the E chassis, H&R and Eibach springs had the above issues and the band aid fix was to use a shorter bump stop from another BMW.
