FEELER: Used Homelink + BNIB Retrofit Cable (not a duplicate thread)

Hey Guys,

Local purchases are desirable and will be prioritized over any out-of-state inquiries.

Used Homelink Mirror + Retrofit Cable (brand new in box) - $380

As stated in my other thread, my retrofitting projects are to be put on hold for now until I sort out whether I am keeping my car or not. Please make offers through PM. Offers made in the thread will be ignored.

Thank you for your considerations.

EDIT:
If one does not have premium package (zpp) or auto dimming side-view mirrors and the rain sensor, purchase of the retrofit cable is required. This is a rather pointless statement as if one were to have ZPP, homelink retrofitting would not be an issue. In other words, the retrofit cable is necessary if the retrofit is to be a success. However, if simply a back-up mirror is desired then the retrofit cable is dispensable.

^^ this is an example of 100% "passive voice"--what many of your teachers/professors advise against. See how confusing it is?

If you are planning a retrofit, you need the cable.

Currently i have an e92 WITHOUT autodimming/compass/or homelink, if i bought the retrofit cable would i have to splice wires or run wires anywhere? or is it just plug and play with the retrofit cable and new mirror? Oh by the way my car has a rain sensor. I would be interested in both if this were to work without splicing or running wires... just want simple plug and play.

there is a harness i believe that you plug the retrofit cable into ... and the you install the mirror once its all hooked up

i am not a 100 percent sure ... i think its plug and play since the car system is not prewired for the mirror ... i don't think you splice wires

i will let johnson make sure before you pull the trigger on it

Even with the retrofit harness you still need to run wires. The current harness (if you take of your mirror) only has 3 wires. You will have to unclip the old harness AND unclip the new harness, after which you will run the new harness wires back to the center console. Then, you will clip the old harness with the additional wires.

For European cars, you will also need to run a ground wire which is also included. The process is also different--the entire harness is replaced.

Is there a DIY for this? I've searched but only found the one that already has autodimming so plug and play was all they needed to do. This one seems much more complicated and i am probably too inept to do it...

That DIY was... I dunno. It was like Before and then After. What about the in-between????

Yes. It can be DIY since there is not dealer coding required. But you need to know how to open your center console.
