Arrow DIY: Forge Motorsport Diverter Valve (N54)

I just want to share with you guys some helpful information on how to install Forge Motorsport Diverter Valve (N54). It comes with the installation instruction and you will be fine just by doing what they tell you to do. I just want to add my 5c to it.

1. After you installed your new valves , I would recommend you to cut a little bit those hoses.

Diverter Valves installed

2. I would also recommend to lubricate both ends of the hoses. You can use one drop of motor oil to do that. I shortened the hoses by about 1 inch or so. I just was going little by little until the fitment was perfect. By doing that you will have a small gap in between your new vales.

3. Now you can put everything back.

It would be much easier to put it back by lubricating those parts on the air box

I hope it will help you a little bit. If you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Did you use anything special to shorten the hoses? I haven't installed mine yet but plan to in about a week and your install looks pretty clean.

Great clear photos by the way!

I am adding my 2c too...When you twist the DV locking mechanism, you should wear a pair of gloves to help you get some grip.

It's probably been posted before, but the Forge instructions regarding which way to turn the grey clips are correct for the hose ends attached to the factory DVs (clockwise), but the at the stock hose ends, you turn them counterclockwise, the opposite direction from the grey clips at the DVs. I just installed mine tonight and got hung up on this step momentarily.

Also, as most others have done, I cut exactly 2" from the shorter front hose and I also cut 1/2" from the rear hose. You need a good pair of wire cutters to cut the steel wire that wraps inside the hose.

I have a boost gauge and I had extra length in my hoses so I clocked the vacuum nipples towards the driver-side which was less complicated than clocking them towards the passenger side as per the Forge instructions. Here's a photo:

A couple other places that were more difficult than I expected:

1.) If you're using the factory vacuum hoses, they are really difficult to get on the vacuum nipples on the Forge DVs. They look like they were sized for a larger than stock vacuum hose.

2.) Removing the three grey rubber grommets from the airbox is very easy if you take a flatblade screwdriver and insert it into the rubber grommet on the far side between the grommet and the airbox plastic fin. Slide the screwdriver to the front and rear edges of the grommet slot to release the rubber from the plastic piece while you pull up. This makes it a piece of cake.

how long would it take to put the stock valves back in? I don't want any reason for the dealer to deny a claim should something come up

Once you've done the install, I imagine it would take about 1/3 less time to go back to stock for service. The only thing that took time for me was figuring out that the direction to turn the grey ring on the OEM DVs was wrong, and cutting the front hose to the right length. Also getting the rubber grommets off the stock airbox was a pain in the ass the first time, but now I know how to get them off easily, it would only take a second.

I think I could probably get the car back to stock in 30-45 minutes.
