Disclaimer: I am not affiliated by any means with this installer
I thought this may help the 1 or 2 Quebec based M enthusiasts on this forum Being curious about all the fuss on Xpel, i saught the only authorized reseller in Quebec of Xpel products, Protex . I went to Protex Laval, where they have an impressive installer area and were nice enough to tolerate me for 30mns asking questions. At first I was very sceptical about this film having seen clear bras from sometime ago, all i have to say this product is impressive. You can't tell its there. The installer scraped the film and showed me how it quickly "heals" w a heat gun. it was virtually impossible to see any changes in shine, gloss, depth to the paint, the car they were working on had the full front done and were moving on to do the rest. And it feels soft to the touch ! They fully wash the car, decontaminate and remove any imperfections before starting their work. I checked the edges, but it seems not all panels are wrapped on the inside because of the lack of access to the inside of a bumper or the side wings. The film stops shy of 1-2 mm from the edge and very hard to notice if you don't look. All in all very interesting, the only remaining part was the price that i wasn't given because they serve my dealer and until the car is purchased they can't quote me |

It is nowhere near that much for Canada. For full front end (bumper, headlights, hood and fenders), you're looking at close to $1,500 CAD and possibly more if you go through the dealer.

$1500 would be the median range one should pay, any more than this, like you are suggesting $2500-$3000, the entire car is to be wrapped completely.
Just an example. http://www.pureauto.ca/paint_protect...m_mississauga/ http://sekanskin.com/pricing/ Last edited by bobblehead; 07-07-2015 at 11:06 AM.. |

good to know, but most of these stores are in Ontario, prices do tend to be more expensive in Quebec, but I will post once i get my car so i can get a quote. kinda stupid if you ask me, they know i wont do it at the dealer so why not just quote me...

whatever the installer charges to the dealer, you can assume dealer will double the price. That's usually is the norm. i.e. installer charges $1500, dealer will want $2500-$3000 easily.

So I finally caved in, reason is that I believe the f8x M paint is soft. After a trip of close to 800km and seeing how the clear was marred by those insects I decided to wrap it. I am doing full front, $1350+the tax... I think I'll sleep better at night. I am freaking out already at every little paint defect in the front bumper and the headlights... Not even 2k km on the car. I hope it turns out ok and hope when they wash it they don't introduce swirls...

I got a lift back from the co-owner, awesome guy and hard worker. I am impressed with their attention to quality, detail and customer service. I did highlight to them that they need to improve their washing techniques and they gladly took the feedback. Last edited by aboulfad; 08-06-2015 at 12:12 PM.. |

Do you have a pic? Does it wrap around to the rear bumper, or just the sides? I'll mention it to the installer to see what he thinks. But damn if it keeps going like this the whole car will be wrapped

sorry, no pic.
I would think the film should be wrapped just before the bumper bends around point. Worst case is to wrap the entire rear bumper fender. Yikes. I know. $$$ keeps on flying out from your wallet. sorry. |
