Tow hook cover

Can anyone take a closeup pic of the tow hook cover and how it attaches to the bumper. I had to get mine replaced. I can't remember how it attaches and don't want to screw it up. Thanks in advance

Same problem with my car. I opened my cover while ago and lost the original cover during a short transit. Then ordered new, but I can't get it installed properly. The new cover is too loose, gets out if I just push it. I've thought if there are some single-use plastic bits inside that can't be replaced??

My replacement fits I just need for someone to take a pic on how the plastic attachment attaches to the bumper

I may have described my problem a bit incorrectly...or do you mean that plastic "wire" that comes with cover? I have no idea how it is connected inside bumper.

If we speak about cover measurements, mine fits perfectly. The problem is that after slipping the new version inside the bumper, cover is too loose and easy to move/drop out after installation. The first one from factory was difficult to open and quite tightly attached. This new one is just about there and not properly held in it's place.

If there is a need to install a new one with some special slipping or complicated technic, help is appreciated.

I know there a clip in the bumper that secures against that post on the back of the cover. But the plastic wire attaches to the hole in right lower corner but how?

If it is like other BMW covers, the plastic wire ends in a diamond shape that just pushes through a small hole in that corner. It should go in—and come out—with minimal force.

I own no garage queens. If it's in my driveway, it's been ridden hard and put away wet. ...and now, with a light crust of Maine road salt.

I have to ask, so have you ALL had situations where you were towed ALLREADY? Just curious, what happened.

I tried to install cover using these photos. Played with cover for a while before this plastic wire parted the cover, after couple of minutes. So the wire is useless now and cover barely hangs with my car close to drop out. Still, even before getting wire cut, cover was as loose as earlier....

Why there can't be something simple here that can be easily installed?

I was considering going and becoming a BMW Certified i8 Mechanic. Seems time for a career change.
