It's a mystery to me

Hi All,

I am looking for an answer for a problem created by me.

I decided to download some Podcasts on to read/write cds to use in my F10. I started with CD-RW discs and everything was fine, but because there were several discs I decided to use a DVD-RW and that is when the trouble started.

OK to clarify:-
I downloaded UPD05062 to the car with no problems
There are folders created on the discs exactly the same
I used CDBurnerXP to burn the discs
Of course the laptop will play either disc

Now the CD-RW play fine but the DVD-RW is not read by the disc player in the car. To labour the point the DVD-RW is taken in by the player but reports "No disc" and then can be ejected in the normal way. OK it is not a show stopper as I will use CD-RW discs but it bugs me.

Any ideas will be welcome.
John

A far easier way to do this is to pop all your files onto a USB thumb drive and plug into the USB socket in the centre console.

This means you can easily add or delete files, and saves you mucking about burning DVD/CD-RWs, which I didn't think anyone did anymore....

Had my 5 for over a year and an optical disc has never been in the drive since I've had it.

Can't remember the last time I used a disk...

Have you closed the disc when burning it?

I have a 64Gb mini USB stick or I use Spotify - much easier.

Thanks Guys for the replies I new the Forum would have the answer.

Why I was trying to use "Old Technology" I cannot think when I have a 32Gb Flash drive. So I have tried many folders containing many mp3 files and the car will search without a problem the drive.

Thanks again,
John

Or...

What I do is even less effort. Install this on to your phone:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ketcasts&hl=en

https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/pock...414834813?mt=8

And it downloads the podcast channels you subscribe to overnight. Then in the car just play the audio off the phone via Bluetooth. When you have listened to a podcast, it auto-deletes.

Thanks for the alternative suggestion Pottsy. I will try that as it may suit me best.

So, how does this improve on the built in Podcast manager in iOS? Seeing as it's £2.99?
