Coilovers or springs
Hello everyone I have a 2009 E90 335i I would like for my car to look lower. I was thinking of putting springs because of the price and because I've heard they have less problems. Coilovers are great but sometimes the ride is very stiff and they are very expensive. I don't know what to do, what do you guys suggest.

Lowering springs on stock shocks is a horrible combination. Been there, done that - multiple times. Invest in appropriate shocks as well or a full coilover kit.

Did the bilstein PSS9 on my audi and very happy with them. I believe for your car you would fit the pss10, whearas on the audi the 9 is the one fitting the application. Setting 1-9 and on 9 which is the softest it's pretty much like stock... Maybe a tad stiffer but I could easily fool the wife or a passenger that "nothing changed"! so not much different. However, handling is awesome and way less roll and improved stability/absorption of rough roads in all situations, including at hard breaking, and you can lower car as you see fit. I can very much recommend these. On the bmw I will next week do koni fsd's with my sport stock springs (e92) and looking forward to try that out!

go fo rthe coil overs
I recently installed the Bilstein PSS10s on my 335d - I'd run sport Bilsteins with
H&R springs on several previous BMWs. The coil over setup is the best. NOTE: the PSS9 uses higher numbers for softer settings while the PSS10 uses higher numbers for firmer settings. I'm currently running F4/R5. When installed, they set them both in the middle at 5/5. The handling is greatly improved! |
