F80 @ Thompson - Chasing an F430 Challenge

Was able to get a cool video of me chasing down my grandfather in his Ferrari F430 Challenge. He definitely would gain on the corners, but I could make up the ground down the front straight. Was a lot of fun, and a lot of work! Best lap time was a 1:22.24. Hard track to get good lap times with the heavy F80, very slow track other than the front straight.

Fantastic video! How did the car feel for you? The course you're driving looks to be relatively bumpy, is that accurate?

Congratulations on having a bada** grandfather as well.

Yea Thompson is a pretty bumpy track. They just re-did it, but it wasn't done quite as well as I would have liked - oh well. Car is feeling pretty good though, definitely need stickier tires - the AD08R's are starting to give up. And yes, for 71 years old my grandfather is pretty bada** haha!

Cool video and awesome grandad. On the road the F430 in my opinion does not really shine, I remember with the C63 I had obliterated one. But on corners, damn it is darn good. On the track it really shines, and it is a very tactile and precise car, it is very engaging like most modern Ferraris pos the great F355. I am impressed the F80 kept up.

that looks like a lot of fun? The upper shifts on the F430 are very nice sounding.. it seems like you are driving that thing on the ragged edge? Especially compared to how I drive LOL I really like the camera perspective as well. thanks for sharing!

Nice driving man! Inputs could have been smoother, but you were probably excited trying to run down Grandpa!

The car goes from understeer to throttle oversteer.... gotta love the staggered tires. NOT!

Yea, I'm going to try a square r-compound setup next event and see how that fares.

I'm running a square 275 PSS setup on the street and love it. The car is much more neutral.

Just be sure to turn off all the nannies (which you're used to that anyways based on your driving skill ).

I like to combine fun with fast. I know that ultimately driving more smoothly would result in better lap times, but it's just not that much fun. Throwing the back end out frequently is a lot more interesting

Same here. Im not trying to set lap records or have dreams about being in a skip barber racing series. Like to go fast and have fun.
