335i ABS Pump Replacement DIY start to finish with calibratioin

Hey for anyone interested I made a video showing you how to replace your ABS pump, cost me a total of $75.

This is for anyone that has a code for 5DF0 and 5DF1 indicating a bad pump.
You'll have three yellow warning lights on your dash. It'll start as an intermittent problem but eventually stay on all the time.

Link to the video:

Good luck and I hope this is helpful. I did a similar video on changing injectors and that was pretty well received.

Wow man very very cool! Makes me much more comfortable buying one of these cars knowing that these "big" jobs(specifically injectors) people talk about are so easy! It does look like the hardest part is installing INPA.

Thank you!

Nice video...thanks for creating and posting it! I've never been able to get INPA to connect to my DSC (E60, not E90) so I had to use GT1 to bleed my ABS module. INPA seems to do a MUCH better job.

You can swap over your control unit to the new pump and not have to deal with reprogramming it, just do the bleed procedure after install with INPA

+ 1 on just swapping the electrical module with no programming needed just code clearing after bleeding the brakes.
I used an English video I found years ago but it was for a motorcycle Bosch ABS which has the same issue. A focused one on our rides is excellent....
I had to buy a new unit since I did this almost 2 years ago. I did repair the brushes and taking the can off the Bosch motor and putting back on was not a big deal. In fact that can is very robust and it is held on there very well even with the aluminum tabs removed.
Again great job BMW charges a great deal to do a R&R of this unit...

Bumping this, great video I'm running into the same issue now.

So based on the video, all E9X ABS pumps/motors are the same across all the E9X models (non-Xi)?
If not, the part numbers that exist (ie, on realoem) are of the entire assembly including the control unit, so not sure how I can check for part number of just the hydraulic pump and motor?
I have a 2007 E92 335i 02/2007 build.

Very Helpful + tips

Just received the three warning light error on dash and IPNA confirmed the pump replacement for my 2008 E93.

Was able to get a used pump (with controller) from a 2009 model (different part number but exact configuration.

Original DSC Pt#: 3451-6784765-01
Replaced with DSC Pt#: 3451-6789303-02

I switched out the controllers so I would not have to re-initialize the controller.

The Closetmaid caps worked great to keep the brake fluid from leaking.

Note that I did not have to remove the cowling or the rubber side piece. Just disconnected the 6 brake lines and the three nuts from the mounting posts and jiggle the part out.

Bonus for me was the Power Flush cycle - did not know it existed in INPA. So thrilled that it exists!

Thanks!

I have the same 3 warning lights but it's giving me 5DD0. I've been suspecting my pump for a while but nothing points to it. About 4 years dealing with spongy / sinking pedal. I'm going to be replacing the master cylinder and brake booster this weekend and the job calls for me to pull out the pump. Not sure how obvious signs of failure are but we'll see.

The dsc calibration in ista fails due to system leak (can't find any).
