***CPO Coverage? AC Smell….

My AC vents smells bad when AC is on. Wondering if the AC Condenser cleaning is covered under CPO?

Thanks

Interested to know as well, I have the same problem.
I found the DIY to clean the system, but if it is covered under CPO..
Unless the dealer comes out with the stupid "can't replicate the issue" BS.

I think it would be the evaporator that needs to be cleaned, or maybe the ducts. The condenser is separate from the system and sealed so only refrigerant passes through it.

Try running the system on fresh air for a while and maybe spray some cleaner into the vents.

My guess is that cleaning is 'maintenance' and therefore not covered by CPO warranty. Failure of the evaporator, not cleaning, would be covered with certainty.
Call the dealer and find out with certainty!!!

I couldn't even get them to look at an AC smell under factory warranty for me. I highly doubt that they would under CPO.

ac or any ac component is NOT covered. it is solely a powertrain warranty.

Well you must suck at "your living" then. I guess it's time to get another job.

Directly from BMW "The CPO Limited Warranty covers a wide range of vehicle components, including the engine, powertrain, electrical system, climate control and more."

http://resource.bmwusa.com/ebooks/7a...o_brochure.pdf

Both my e92s I have had a lot covered under CPO that wasn't "powertrain" related.

Is it when the AC is on, or when it is just turned on?

It's just mold and other nasty stuff that grows on and around the evaporator, especially in hot climates where you end up with a lot of condensation. I use this:

There are other, similar cleaners. I doubt they'd cover the cleaning under CPO. It's easy enough to do yourself. I end up having to do all my cars once or twice over a Florida summer.

Not sure when the cabin filter was replaced? Bought it as a cpo last year. Also it smells when the AC is running.
I guess I will check the filter and will be doing the BG Frigi Clean process this weekend. I did it on the e46 and a lot of gunk came out from the drain.

Also I do not notice any water under the car after the AC has been on for a while. I will have to check the drain pipe...

Hi, I bought my car a few months ago from a BMW Dealer and forget to ask for the maintenance records. If I contact my CA now, will he give me the records? I would like to know when the cabin air filter and other stuffs were last changed. Thanks!

Run ac on high, non-recirculating. Spray lysol into air intake vents. This has worked on other cars of mine.

Oh no worries! It's not comprehensive by any means - but it does come in handy.

I don't mind saying it, but what is, and what is not covered on the CPO is one great big gray area. What I would like is a sheet listing what is actually covered. The link upthread says nothing. Sorry, but if something is not covered, I'd rather take it to my indie. 150 bucks to pull a code and then tell me that a part is not covered does not work for me.

Ozzie335i i know my service advisors have looked and looked for a list like that, but they haven't found one. they have to call and see if certain things are approved.
