best place for a new caliper?
hey guys I've had a shake in my steering for a little bit now, i replaced all the suspension parts along with making sure tire/wheels are okay. brought it to a bmw tech and he said that it sounded like a sticking caliper. he brought a temp gun and found out one wheel is harder to spin while jacked up, along with a decently big difference in rotor temperatures. Obviously the hotter rotor was the side where the wheel is harder to spin. He said he's seen these tons of times on the e46.
MY QUESTION: Should i buy a refurbished caliper? and if so where at? Or just buy new, also where at? THANKS

Check ECS? I know they had some "Clearance" ones that are OE parts just no BMW stamp like the TRW front end steering/suspension component upgrades that are the same as the genuine M3 parts.

Before you dump money on a caliper, check the following:
*Tire balance *Tire cupping *Brake rotor At around 60K I thought my rotors were toasted as I got a lot of vibration when I applied the brake. Turned out that the tires were badly "cupped" which caused the vibration. Cupping was likely the result of being lazy with balancing. |
