Help needed -- Rpms confusion

When I turn my car on, the RPMs stay over 1k or goes alittle under, but never reaches 0. Even when I'm breaking or at a red light. This recently started happening when I deleted my muffler, not sure if there's some type of correlation . Also, is it something I should be worried about ?

I'm so confused.

Engine on, but RPM's should be at 0?

P.S- You need gas. Go get some, report back.

If you turn your car off, it will reach 0.

OP, try this. It would also explain your low fuel, you have to shut off the engine for it to goto 0.

Your saying you have never seen your engine idle at [600-700 rpm]? Or it has never idle around 1k? Before till now?

Your engine has to turn around and around to be 'running', by definition.
It cannot turn AND be at Zero Revolutions Per Minute (rpm), can it?
Similarly, it cannot be rolling down the street and show Zero Miles Per Hour (mph) at the same time...you walk at about 3 mph.

Does someone smell a troll nearby?

He could roll down a hill then turn the engine off that would get him moving at 0rpm.
