SOLVED! Rattle from Exhaust - '12 F30

My 2012 328i has a rattling noise coming from the exhaust that does not go away.

EDIT 8/26

I figured out what's wrong. The metal clip/spring that connects the actuator to the flap is gone! I have no idea how that happened but basically the flap has been free to move around at will.

Actual part is: Fixing bow 18307620323 and I can get it online for about $10

In the meantime I have secured the flap open with metal wire and the noise is gone.

Does yours do it all the time?

I have a rattle somewhere in the exhaust but it depends on temperature and flap position. I've driven several 328's that have the same intermittent rattle around 2500 rpm.

I use to always get it due to temperature but after the car warmed up it would be less noticeable. It seems now that even after running a while the rattle is louder than it use to be when stopped and idling.

Timely post. I am still under warranty but this just started yesterday for me. I have a service appointment next Friday, but I got no issue knocking it out myself. What is the method for securing the flap open in the meantime? I have not had a chance to jack up the car yet and see exactly how the flap works.

No need to jack up the car.... Just bend over and you will see it.

I had the same issue a couple of years back.

Easy fix
