Bonnet/Hood not opening

Hi guys

Today i tried to open the hood without luck, last time i did it was this morning. Only one of the front latches is opening, any clue how to open the hood "manually"? My car is a F30 335i.

Thanks
Hermes

Not trying to offend you, but did you pull the lever twice? If you pull it once, the hood pops open but you can't actually open it. If you pull it again, then you can actually pull it open.

If that doesn't work, get a buddy to pull while you hold the lever in the open position.

No offense, every suggestion is very welcome. I did both with no luck.

Thanks

Is your car standing on a flat surface? Very silly question but wanted to just ask.

Try a pry bar.

If that doesn't work, you need to get the smallest drill bit you can find and drill two small holes - pressure relief holes - in the front of your hood. It WILL open.

Uh, the engine compartment is NOT air tight, therefore drilling all the holes you want in the hood will not relieve any pressure.

You are kidding, right? We don't want anybody actually drilling holes.

Good luck getting it opened.

Related topic: Your post reminded me that I haven't opened my hood since my car was new! There's no dipstick so I haven't thought about opening the hood. I've always thought of my self as a car guy and now I don't even look under the hood. What's wrong with me!

Mine is a little tricky too. First pull the lever, then lift the hood a little and then pull the lever the second time.

How about taking it in to the dealer and getting fixed under warranty? :-)

Hi Hermes,
I've been exactly where you are. If you have solved your problem then please let me know. If not, which side is not opening? Driver side ie left, or passenger side/right?

Hi Krelle

It was finally fixed by the dealership, they changed the Bowden Cable. A plastic part of the cable was broken.

Thanks
