Camber Plates Installation

For those who have their Ground Control camber plates installed on their m235, where did you go to do the install? How much are they charging?

Any recommendation on alignment besides West End?

I've had mine installed/re-installed several times at a couple of shops. It's a 2 hour job if you're really quick about it, but none of my shops had any experience with the platform or the product, so times stretched way out (one shop took 4.5 hours and charged me for it :-( ).

Since that experience, I've been doing it myself. My first try with a friend's help took 5 hours. Now I can do the whole shebang in about 2.5 hours.

This kind of spring compressor helps: http://www.ebay.com/itm/360846827647

My process:
  1. break lug torque
  2. lift front of car from center jack point, place jackstands
  3. remove wheels
  4. unplug EDC connectors, place out of way
  5. unclip all bits (brake lines, brake sensor, etc.) from the strut and body so that the suspension can fully droop
  6. unclip headlight level from LCA for full droop
  7. detach sway bar end link from strut
  8. unbolt knuckle from strut
  9. rubber mallet on the hub to send suspension to full droop and detach strut from knuckle
  10. unbolt strut plate from body and tower brace while holding strut from below (helper useful here)
  11. remove strut from car
  12. place strut in spring compressor
  13. compress spring just enough to de-tension strut plate
  14. remove plate from strut shank
Assembly is the reverse. Use a jack to push the knuckle onto the strut after mounting loosely at the top, and to align sway bar end links with mounting holes on the strut.

I found torque specs scattered around the web, and torque for plate mounting bolts varies based on brand of camber plate. For the strut to knuckle bolt I used 60ftlb, for the sway bar end link nut I used 50ftlb.
