Brand new LCI F30 330d M sport squealing brakes

Hi guys got a new 330d m sport with a nice spec a couple of weeks ago. The car is brand new and had exactly 3 miles on it when i drove it out if the dealership. So far i'm extremely pleased with it, much better than an old 320d i once had!

One minor issue now i've just gone over 1,000 miles is that when coming to a stop from about 10mph to 0 mph i get a squeal coming from the front drivers side brake.

Is this anything to be concerned about? I'm hoping it will quieten down once he car is run in properly or once it gets a few more miles on it. I've also read that the brakes may need bedding in with a few hard stops but im a little worried about doing this until the 1,200 mile mark BMW recommend to run the car in.

Has anyone experienced similar? I have the m sport blue caliper brakes.

Kind regards

Interesting read! What did they do in the end to fix this?

From that thread:

Well it's now been over 2 weeks since applying the 'disc brake quiet' to the rear pads as well, and i have heard a peep out of the brakes since!

So it appears disc brake quiet is definitely the way to go for noise free brakes.

I'd take it back to the dealer and tell them to sort it. There's no excuses for that in a brand new car.

Another member has done this, been backwards and forwards having all the brakes replaced only for them to do it again, so i'd say it's a waste of time, just apply some CRC disk brake quiet and it will never happen again!

Hmm, another long standing issue not addressed on the LCI. Thanks BMW.

I also had this problem and had my car at the dealers 5 times before this was finally fixed. After changing pads + discs, then callipers, they changed the pads again and after 2000 miles I haven't heard a squeak.

OP I'm sorry to hear about this and sadly I'm still with the same problem some 4 months on, 3 set of brake pads and new rear discs but yet still not sorted the issue. My car was brand new like yours and the noise started within the first 100 miles which I think is linked to the Williams ceramic coating that was applied. Pure speculation but I have my doubts.

I've now struggled non stop to reject the car as it's been back 4 times already, but BMWare having none of it. If I was you take it back to the dealer and ensure you record all work carried out in case you need to produce it later on in ownership. I'm thankful I did and it's currently with the ombudsman for rejection.

Just put some disc brake quiet on them! If you can't do it yourself then i'm sure it wouldn't cost much to get a local indy to do it, and then you can get on with your life!

Sorry to hear you've had to go back 4 times to get this sorted but ........
You are trying to reject the car just because it has squealing brakes!? Unless it affects the driving of the car (like that K44ent guy with his steering) I can't see Bmw rejecting just because of a noise.

Maybe I'm wrong but has anyone ever had a car successfully rejected because of a noise?

I think half the forum who have M Sport brakes suffer from squealing brakes. As teaston says, take it to an independent and get them to put that disc quiet brake stuff on it.

Under the sale of goods act and subsequent case law a fault mechanical or cosmetic can be anything just as long as 3 reasonable chances are given to fix said problem. My car has had hundreds of miles added by BMW is not what I expected when like everyone else spent our hard earned money on a big purchase.

Rejecting a car is a long hard battle and squeaky brakes annoying as they are doesn't affect the cars performance. My car had a steering rack failure which is classed as a major component and is therefore eligible for rejection. Even in a clear cut case it's difficult. Touch wood I've yet to have squeaky m-sport + brakes so what is causing it? Washing regime, wheel sealer, style of driving?

You know, at some point you just have to give up on it for the greater good! I had to with my bloody damaged dining table i bought from oak furniture land!

Sometimes it's just not worth cutting off your nose to spite your own face!

Best of luck with it, they SHOULD fix it. If it doesn't work this time, ask them what they are going to do about it? Is it worth suggesting that they put anti squeal lubricant on them?

Dopper I did mention this to BMW and they said they had applied it but noticed no difference. They even skimmed the brakes but it subsequently caused an awful brake fade. Thus, requiring new pads again! BMW have said its all trial and error but not really what I want to hear as a new owner.

I wouldn't hear brakes squealing , don't have windows open, else what's the point of air con, and music would always drown it out! I couldn't give two hoots if other people can hear it outside!

Same here, never have the windows down. I've heard my brakes squeak from time to time, but get them hot using them as they should be soon sorts them out.
