M Performance Active sound exhaust for diesels... anyone tempted?

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1166374

I presume that it adds some extra external noise rather than just something internally like the Active sound on the 335d...

Depending on the exact noise I quite like the idea of it...

Though I do like the split dual outlet I have already and this is going back to a twin.

Are we sure it isn't April 1st?

I would certainly be tempted if it's not too expensive, although I'd want to hear it first.
I've switched the M3 Active Sound off now as I got bored of it on the motorway booming away. Looks like they have addressed that with this.

But wasn't that only in Sport mode too? which is how this one works too, except I think with the addition of external noise.

No, even in Comfort it was still loud. Great when revving just not when sitting at 80mph on the motorway. If it was only when in Sport it would have been perfect.

Mine only made a difference in sport mode, and as I use that a lot I ended up disconnecting the hardware, before I knew it could be coded out. Therefore I am thinking that you can probably also code what mode it works in too. I was thinking of plugging it back in and changing to the M3 sounds.

This is what puts me off the M3 - booming noise even at a constant speed. My car is nice and quiet, except when you rev it like any car.

The coded M3 sound is quite intrusive due to the fact it's noisy in both comfort and Sport - turned mine off now.

Let's code Brigand's car to sound like an ice cream van, whist he's in Greece.

Then let him try explaining to the bobbies why he has a dozen six years old girls in tow......

I'd be tempted, but as said would depend on sound and price.

So how do you code the Active Sound off? I am not sure but I think mine is active and although it is not intrusive I would rather have a quieter cabin than some artificial engine noise. These are my ASD settings

Model Range = F030 Werte = 18
Engine = B48B20 Werte = 10
Audio Level = Stereo Werte = 00
Power Class = OL Werte = 03

According to the cheat sheet code it to F020/F021 + S63B44 to disable it.

Not going back to twin - love my dual look and wouldn't change it for anything.

So you can code your car so the sound that is pumped through the speakers in an M3 is the same in any F3x?

It's amazing what you can do with this coding!!
