Dealer replacing just one strut instead of both?
So long story short, my car has been making this clunking suspension noise going over bumps and after replacing swivel joint, steering rack, strut mount (driver-side), the service department is now going to replace just the driver-side strut because that's where they think the noise is coming from.
My concern is with 24k miles, shouldn't both struts be replaced for even wear? Like brake pads and tires. My SA said since my car is under 30k, they will only replace 1 side. I've emailed asking to replace both, but they're sticking to their gun on this one. Thoughts?? What's the typical life on a strut? Are there better aftermarket struts out there that would work with my m-adaptive suspension? |

Struts usually go a lot longer than that, so I don't see why. If you were at 80-100K, then I suppose...
BTW, if you haven't figured it out yet, all of the "normal wear" items need to at least start being looked at, if not replaced, after the "free maintenance" period. That's why the "free maintenance" exists, because usually (not always) these things don't fail or wear out below 40K. |
