Adaptive Headlight

Hi

I have got Adaptive Headlight Failure on my 2011 E90..

Cant find much of the info on the net, How to sort this problem out.
I have heard have to change the headlight..

Is there anyway i can take my car to someone who can just code the adaptive headlight, I think apart from moving left right it doesn't do much, Please correct me if I am wrong please.

If i get it just auto leveling working I'm happy with that..

Left hand side auto level's but the right hand side doesn't do anything. apart from just coming straight on..

Please advise what can I do with it...

Is Main dealer only option...

Thanks.

You can have it coded out for $50 from some people on this forum. You just need to get a cable and they can do it remotely over the Internet. The error lights will go away and the lights just become normal lights that point straight.

Or you could diagnose the problem and fix it yourself. I was getting an error until I replaced my module. I bought a replacement for $80 on eBay.

If i get it coded will the auto leveling still work though, What exactly will i loose is it just the turning left right of the lights??

Thanks.

The module is real easy to change. It's underneath the headlight and you can get to it by peeling back the wheel fender liner. After I got my new module the headlight error codes all went away completely. But I wouldn't buy a new module unless you knew that was the problem. Although, they do seem to go bad often due to water seeping into them. I got lucky and found one on eBay that was from an almost identical car with a close build date.

Someone else will have to answer your questions about how the adaptive and auto-leveling coding work. I'm relatively new to BMW and don't understand all that stuff. There was a guy on here from Hawaii who offered to code for me remotely. His handle was "wildcatcrazy". Maybe send him a PM.

I would add this to the uk area under tech. You will get more people looking at it.
