VANOS Solenoid factory fault

The service adviser was not all that keen in explaining anything in detail. Basically rushed me out with the car and told me not to worry about it.

So, I took my car on the basis that my charge pipe cracked for the second time and presumed it was the quality of the plastic not being able to handle the heat around here. Apparently not. I wanted to understand further, he said something along the lines due to the timing of the engine the pipe has been blown out.
If anyone can help me understand about the VANOS solenoid part that would be great and what should I be wary off?

The car is a F30 335i, '11 production.

I cant offer any more details that what you have provided, however I wouldnt hesitate to march myself right back in there and demand an in depth explanation. You are the customer and have the right to an explanation of this. I usually ask to speak to the technician after any warranty procedure and also inspect any defective parts removed from my vehicle. In my experience this helps #1 me understand whats going on, #2 helps ensure that they actually did replace a part on my car by physically inspecting the defective part I know, slightly OCD, dont care..

The solenoid changes the camshaft timing and provides direct oil flow to the VANOS actuator. You have one on the exhaust and on the intake side of your camshafts. The seals can go bad and/or build up can occur restricting oil flow .

Your work order should mention a code for it.
