Great review!
Couple of observations... they had great praise for the steering - but was it VSS or non-VSS they tested? The jornos generally all seem to have been given VSS so far.
But I wonder if they were given a non-VSS car by BMW in order to get better reviews on the steering?

Also, this does not look like the typical jacked up xdrive suspension to me............

In fact - that looks like an sdrive.

Interestingly those are recent BMW UK stock images of a 330d xDrive from here:

or here:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1124143

i.e not the car that Evo actually drove.

Nice review.

Re the suspension, I've commented before, but the higher xDrive suspension doesn't seem so obvious on the Touring, even pre LCI like mine.

Must have been driving like a fanny though to achieve 44mpg on a 1,000 mile from Spain

I find it odd that they dont mention the xdrive suspension when they say about the turn in. Just blame the weight.

I thought that was the new requirement for journalism these days.

Shoddy and lazy.

Majority of articles and reports are.

Not a terrible review, but have to agree that the quality of car reviewing at the moment is not great. Too many short, vague and cliched reviews in almost all the publications.

I wonder what they'd think of one with ACS springs on!

I'm hoping the full magazine article will be better - In fairness Evo normally water/edit down the website article otherwise why would people bother buying the magazine/subscribing.

It should be sitting in my letter box when I get home so I'll let you know.

It's not appeared on the ego iPad edition yet and it's normally ahead of the magazine as its subscription only.

The other thing I will add is that basically BMW have totally copied my modifications to improve their car....

Beefier anti- roll bars- check
Stiffer suspension - check
More rigid top mounts - check
442 wheels - check

They just need another 50bhp, a proper 335 exhaust and it might actually be better!

I can't really think of any good reason not to get the touring. It drives the same (I've driven both and find them indistinguishable) and IMO is one of the most handsome cars around. With all due respect to the saloon, I consider the touring the better looking car, the only F3x that rivals it for class and style being the 4GC.

Good to see support for the touring! I'm biased, but I think it looks good too! There are more and more of them on the road now.
