Picking up 1M tomorrow
Sold my E36 M3 that I had since 2002 and found a 1M locally that we are picking up tomorrow (hopefully). It is AW and has black wheels. When my wife saw it "I don't like it. Don't like black wheels. Never liked the wheels on the M3". Thinking on my feet, I told her that it is just paint and that when it needs tires, we can get the wheels painted. That seemed to appease her for now. Maybe she will "warm up" to the wheels in time.
I took the car to my old shop, Nine-Eleven Enterprises, yesterday and did a PPI on it. Car only has 23K on it but I expected to find more than I did. Driver's door weatherstrip is torn at bottom, missing owners manual, tow hook and little open end wrench and the battery is getting weak. Seller agreed to come down a little on price, pay for the door seal and split the cost on the other items. We are excited. Now if I can figure out how to get 3 cars and 2 BMW bikes in the garage and still have enough room to open my tool box! The car was originally sold by BMW Dallas as a lease car and then went to Austin. I think it was serviced at Momentum. Is anyone familiar with the car or know who the previous owners might be? I tried to find a free service to match the VIN# with the previous owners. There were several that claim to be free, but once you get in there you find out that nothing's free. I would sure like to know why it had 2 owners in less than 4 years. |

I don't think that two owners in less than 4 years is a red flag. Many of these cars change hands relatively frequently. I am the third owner of my car. Bought it from my brother who bought @ 5.5k on the odo.
Congrats. I have a feeling you will enjoy it. The 1M is not nearly as forgiving as an e36 but it is a much more thrilling ride. |

If your garage has sufficient ceiling height, you could consider buying a car lift. If it doesn't, then you might still be able to use a car lift if the problem is the space taken up by the garage door track, in that you could modify that or put in a different sort of garage door. The lifts are not expensive (~$2500 plus assembly) but the garage doors are.

Congrats!!! We only had a few 1M Austin owners on the forum. Most of the Texas 1M owners on the forum are from the Dallas and Houston areas.

Probably not, I'm getting this through BMWNA's website which I doubt will show UK cars. Sorry.
