Where on a 2014 328i xdrive can one place a hidden GPS unit?

Without going into to much detail I believe that someone may have placed a hidden GPS unit on my vehicle.

From what I have read these units could be placed on a metallic part via magnet; but when I look at many areas that are easily accessible via hand they are covered by some plastic cover.

Now obviously if someone is able to hoist my car, gain access to engine bay, or interior it would make it difficult to locate.

But I'm for now going based on someone walking by and within a few moments placing a device on the vehicle.

Thanks.

Wheel wells, trunk bed, heck I've seen some they sell that go under the roof rack covers. There are tons of ways to place one. Best bet is to lift it and spend a few hours looking. P.S. they sell RF transmitters that can detect if something is being transmitted. P.S. to the P.S. if someone's bugged your car, chances are they've also tapped into your connection / computer.

I think you should go into detail.

Two thoughts

1) GPS units are useless without access to the sky, or at least the horizon - radio waves don't go through metal. So it won't be very effective underneath the car, but have to be placed on either a verticle surface that stares out at the horizon, on a horizontal surface that stares up through the windshield or back window. Up under the front or rear bumper cover against the body?
2) They don't emit much, but I suspect that my skier's Avalanche Receiver/transmitter would find it. Do you have a back-country skier friend?
