Rear brake disc rust
Hey guys,
Got my wheels powder coated back in March along with my calipers painted and everything looked new and shiny for the first few months. Now, the wheel wells look very dirty and the brake dust doesn't want to completely come off, the brake calipers look really dusty and the outer part of the disc is starting to rust and is making the entirety of the wheel look bad. Does anyone have any cleaning tips for the calipers and the discs? Or would i need to buy new brake discs? Thanks

Black shows dirt.
As far as the rust on the rotors goes, anywhere the pads aren't touching the rotors, it's gonna rust. Did you happen to move or remove the brake pads when you painted the calipers? You say "wheel wells" do you mean the barrels of the wheels? You also mention the brake dust doesn't want to come off, is this because the brake dust is attacking the powdercoat more easily than the last finish on the wheels? Upgrade to the M-Performance Brake Kit. |

The calipers were done at a shop and i think they stayed on while being painted. And yes, I meant the barrels of the wheels. I think what I need to solve the problem is a really good wheel and caliper cleaner and a brush and everything should be looking good again. But as far as the rotor goes, I'm not sure what to do for the rust. Do you have any recommendations for a good wheel and/or caliper cleaner? And I would get the M-Performance Brake Kit, but the car is just a lease and I can't justify spending that much on brakes for just another year of ownership. Should I just buy new rear rotors? Thanks!

For the wheel cleaner i would highly recommend BDP wheel cleaner, as far as you dont want your rotors to rust you can just buy after market rotors that have a coating on it so that the areas your brake pads dont touch it wont rust. Let me know if you have questions about either products!

Thank you! Would you recommend buying new rear rotors? I did some research but im not quite sure which ones will fit my car (N26 F32) and I don't know if there will be any problems with the warranty and service e.t.c... It's not that big of a deal but the rust along with the brake dust overall doesn't look good.
Much appreciated!
