GTS exclusive features

Not going to become obsessed about the issues I have about the GTS...But I wonder how likely it will be to have the H2O system for the regular M4?

I am beyond sure the ODEM lights will come soon too with the laser headlights, but would you really be ready to spend 130k for 80 HP more??

Don't forget the adjustable coil over suspension, reprogrammed differential, EDC and traction control, roll cage, stiffened rollbars, active aero through front splitter and rear spoiler, reduced weight, wider tires, modified steering and associated mechanicals...

Bottom line - if my budget was $150k+ for a third car as a dedicated track toy - I'd be all over the M4 GTS...

A friend of mine has a M3 GTS. It is a completly different beast than a standard M3 E92. I think this is the same story with the new one... And when you mod a stock M3/4 you are sort of burning money... But if you buy a GTS you buy the "true thing" that will keep a "good" resale value AND have the true performance on the track...
My 2 cents.

This is all the exciting stuff that will trickle down to the standard f8x's. iND has already sourced the OEM M4 GTS roll bars and I am sure it won't be terribly long before we see other aspects of the GTS become available. Perhaps the traction control can be coded to the standard cars as well.

There will also be a nice influence on the aftermarket as well to replicate GTS inspired parts as there is a lot to learn from the factory built car. Someone needs to replicate the door pulls.

Will we see a factory built M4 race car running the S55? We have the m235i racing and maybe even those will be replaced by m2 based vehicles but I would love to see a motorsport M4 GT4 and that would certainly ensure a release of products through the motorsport catalogue for the f8x.

You will never see the coil-over suspension carry over to the standard M. That is why they have the adaptive system. It would make no sense for them to do that.

The only production cars that leave the showroom stock with coil-overs are the specialty race/street legal cars.

BMW doesn't make the coil overs themselves. They will be sourcing them from someone. It is likely that once the car comes out and we get more hands on information on it, it will be possible to find out the manufacturer and a comparable kit. i.e. How the e92 GTS used KW for coilovers and brembos for brakes.

Hasn't there been info that BMW changed the policy and will not allow people to buy the GTS parts unless they can prove they own a GTS?

At $150k would you really? With Gt3 at $130k gt3 rs for $170k. I would buy one of those instead.

That has always been the policy but as we have seen there are ways around it through some vendors relationships with motorsport programs.

With the limited number of production GTS's it will be more of a collector car. I do not think GTS buyers will be the same as GT3 buyers. The cars are priced in the same bracket but I highly doubt I will ever see an m4 GTS at the track like I see 991 GT3's all day. Most GTS's, at least in america, will be locked away in rich guys collections.

Exactly.
Tons of GT3s at the track. I doubt Id see many if any GTS M4s at the track. It's definitely a collector car at 700 units world wide.

And driven around town only. It's still got iDrive and a leather dashboard, lol.

It's really a car built for a purpose, instead of a jack of all trades.

relive this moment.

Chris Harris also asked the same thing:

Just as a small precision, there is no "active" aero on the GTS. While it is adjustable, it is still passive.

Sorry to bring thread back up,

Yes I agree. When you tell me north of 140k for a track car, I think of many other cars. A transformed e92 with a supercharged dinah (850 hp), porsche, GTR, so on. I love the new features it advertises but...that price tag just does not give me justice for the car...
For the record, this does not involve my budget.

If I'm spending $150K on a track car, the P-cars are the obvious candidates.

If I'm a collector, it would be $150K well-spent.

Current porsche pricing doesn't make any more sense than GTS pricing.

The GT3 at 150-ish includes an exorbitant porsche tax.

This thread implies the US spec cars will get the roll bar? Is this confirmed? I assumed it would not.

Possibly, but the msrp is apron 145k with decent setup, and you will get a much better "race car" than the GTS...is the price worth 490 odd hp? maybe not for power, but with those cars they do not need a lot of power to blow by 500-600 hp cars.
