Who has a 1M and looking at getting M2 or M4 GTS?

So I am the orginal owner of VO 1M that I did euro delivery on. It's got 11k miles on it and I love it so much I leased a M235 for daily driver. I've been thinking of getting rid of the M235 and grabbing a M2 but now am #1 at our dealership for M4 GTS.

Am I crazy to keep the 1M? Who else is looking at adding a M2 or GTS to the garage next to the 1M?

Hopefully I will be adding an M2 next to the 1M. I'm #1 on my dealers list...actually, just started it yesterday. Just have to wait and see if that 51k starting price rumor is close.

+1, if you're a BMW brand aficionado or as a possible investment, i'd go for the GTS. If it's for the ultimate driving: the GT3

@OrangeCrush I somewhere saw the M2 @ 51k being confirmed to press by US BMW staffer.

Getting a GT4 to go with my 1M. Not interested in M2 but on dealer list for M2 CSL if they build one

I wouldn't buy any current production BMW. Any of the current production cars and those soon to be in production will emphasize ever more modern technology with its innate disconnectedness from the driver, with better observable metrics such as power, speed, and fuel consumption. Since this automobile company and most others have ditched driving pleasure (other than enjoyment of brute force and speed) as one of their "metrics," you can be sure that all the cars they sell in the future will follow this trend to the extent possible. That makes all of these "modern cars" less desirable as soon as successor vehicles are offered, basically the BMW blueprint for making their cars depreciate at breakneck speed. From the standpoint of a vehicle manufacturer making expensive luxury vehicles for affluent or wannabee affluent people, this is a very good place to be.

If I were looking for another car, I'd be looking at a used one that is modern enough to be safe, has enough creature comforts to satisfy me (or can be modded to have them such as by changing the head unit) and that had low enough mileage and was in good enough shape that it could be considered to be a long term keeper.

You will always be able to buy a powerful car with luxury features and numb electric power steering, as this is the future for all the luxury car brands, not just BMW.

1M is a keeper. I'm looking to get a Boxster Spyder to compliment it vs. "upgrading" the 1er.

^^^ This.

I'm going to go backwards for my 1M stable-mate when the time comes...an E46 M3.

About sums it up for me as well.

I'd prefer a good low-mileage E90 M3 over an F80, and the 1M over the M2. I'm tired of losing money hand over fist on cars, I'd rather get something that's at the bottom of its depreciation curve, or a future classic.

If I didn't go for the the M I'd have probably bought an E90 M3, 996 Turbo or 997 S.

Agree wholeheartedly! I also went backwards and added a 993 last year--absolutely love both cars.

If I were getting something else, I'd look at a 996 turbo. Though not air cooled, it has the bullet-proof Mezger engine and is probably at the bottom of the depreciation curve.

I dont I'd need an M2 with the 1M.

To me the M4 is different enough where I would go with that platform if you wanted to offset the 1M. But truthfully, I think if I had the 1M (which I do!), I'd want something NA for another car!

^all great comments. I think adding a NA M to the garage as a dedicated track car would serve my needs...and addictions better. Not planning on selling the 1M..I may still put my name on the dealer list for the 2, would like to know how many M2s are going to be produced. I'd be all in for a M2 GTS if they were uber limited AND being built

I think it's kind of redundant to get an M2 along with a 1M....but I guess that's just my opinion. The Cayman GT4 is really the only other sports car that really interests me but is totally incompatible with my life at the moment (3 month old baby). The 1M is perfect for my life at the moment!

I'm not really a BMW fan though aside from the E8X generation of cars as well as older BMWs so I'm not motivated to spend that much money on anything other than a 1M!

I need to get a 2nd family car in the next year or two....am hoping that will either be an Alfa Romeo Giulia when it comes out in the US next year or possibly a last year Mitsubishi Evo (have always loved them).

I agree with most of these points as well. If I dint have 1M I would consider M2 or M3 but not with same desire of previous BMWs.

Not loving the look of the M2, especially the wheel arches, not bold enough.

imo, honestly, the m2, m4, either if its gts or not, wasn't even in my mind, thoughts..or radar. If you already have an 1M that is, cayman GT4, or Cayman spyder would be perfect mate. NA and force induction, light weight, fun, and still back to basic, and somewhat still rare.

I currently have a 1M and slated to be one of the first in Vancouver to get the M2.
Although I am thinking I may just keep the 1M now.
