Embarassingly loud brake squeak
I have the MP brake kit (BBK) on my car and at lows speed it squeaks even if warm. This is odd considering it just started happening after over 25k miles. Any idea what it could be?
Also, does anyone know of aftermarket pads that would give me a better bite without damaging the rotor? Ceramics?

Mine did the exact same, then I booked time at the mechanic and now they stopped again
Well. I'll have them checked anyway because they are only 7 months old and when I have any clue why they started squeaking I'll come back.

Don't most high performance brakes squeak? I've never had any fancy high performance brakes, but from what I heard, its pretty normal and is an unfortunate side effect of having some badass brakes. Maybe I'm completely wrong though haha

I bought a brand new 2015 335 xi m performance, mpe, mppk, m brakes, etc. My brakes squeal at slow stop... Extremely embarrassing. Dealer is saying it's common with M brakes, but how can a brand new car have this problem. I can't accept that reasoning... It's a manufacturing or engineering issue.

I took my car in last week for the second time with the annoying low-speed brake squeal. They gave me the standard "that's what they do..." Answer and handed me a BMW bulletin that basically says you need to keep your wheels and calipers clean. I am going to buy Porterfield pads and give those a shot. I worked my way to the service director at the dealership and am trying to work a deal where i can get them to foot the labor if i buy the pads. Its a long shot for sure, but worth the try to get the labor covered. I am over the OEM pads. The brake dust is annoying, but the squeal is just ridiculous.

I don't even have the M performance brakes and I have the squeaky brakes. I took my car to the dealerships 7 times and they're still not fixed. They don't even know what to say at this point and they messed up my car. I wish I knew when it would squeak, but it's always random.

Yep, it's the pads. This is a known issue with all MSport pads. Doesn't matter if you have the BBK or not. They all suck from a DD perspective. While the initial bite is great, dealing with the brake dust and squeaking is horribly embarrassing.

Funny my M Performance Brakes have 20K miles on and make no braking noise at all, just at very low speed low braking one can hear a bit of a squeaking but not loud and far from annoying.
I haven't cleaned the car for weeks, and the brakes are full of dust. (Which really is a downside of those pads) My option would possibly be the RedStuff ceramic pad from EBC Brakes. I drove them on my last car for 4 years. Very low dust, high friction cold and warm.

It's a common issue with fixed calipers, you just need to keep them lubricated. It is a characteristic, not a defect.
Just be glad you don't have carbon ceramics, they are about a thousand times worse!

Update: Apparently my pads are worn out and I'm getting new ones.
I'm never one to complain about new parts under warranty but it is a bit odd considering the iDrive was telling me I still had 30k+ before brakes were due.

So for M Performance Brake owners, we can use same pads as others? I may get the stop tech pads to get rid of this squeal I've developed after 40 k of use...

Thanks, always glad to help! Yes it appears the M-Performance BBK and regular MSport pads are the same size, just different compounds.

I had this same issue at 5k miles and went to dealer. They lubricated it and haven't had an issue since then! (now at 17k)

Mine squeaked as well and I had them service where they cleaned them and lubricated them. First two days no squeaks, then one day of squaking and now none. So apperently the only way for me to make it stop is by a new set of pads. :-(
