ISTA D/P Confusion
Hi all,
I have ISTA D and P installed and working - not sure on version without loading it but its a 2014 version, but due to this install my laptop HDD is almost full. I would like to purchase a cheap 500gb USB HDD and install to that instead, is this possible? I am looking to download the latest version whilst I am going through the hassle, but I see so many different versions, VM Ware, Native, Standalone etc etc, which means I am unsure of what I need to install to an external HDD?? The version I have currently I just click the shortcut and it opens, no VM ware needed. Would appreciate if someone could shed light on exactly what I should get to run similar to now, but from an external HDD? Thanks James |

Thanks for the response, native is what I will look for.
Funnily enough I have been browsing for a cheap dedicated laptop today, as I too think this is the route I should go down... |

So, Googling has uncovered the following which is apparently native, and the latest versions of D and P (if not the latest within the past month or so).
I am not going to bother downloading as my version is fine for what I need (I dont have ICOM so no need for latest I-level updates etc). I may pursue when I source a cheap dedicated laptop for auto software. Feel free to test at your own risk. FWIW, I have ISTA/D up and running natively (Rheingold) on a Window XP VM on Parallels for Mac. Actually works great.
A word of warning, though is that I had ISTA/P running but because I was only running OBD on my 2006 330xi it would try to communicate over the MOST bus and would lock up the TCU module since it couldn't communicate. I had to run the Vehicle Test in ISTA/D to unlock it. I was never able to find a method to omit modules on the MOST bus when initializing ISTA/P. |
