Anyone with MPE and Dinan intake combo?

Guys,
I purchasing the MPE and I like to get an intake to help the sound. The only one I found that doesn't void the warranty was Dinan for $600. I can't find the m-performance one that comes on the PPK. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I have mpe (+mppk) + the dinan intake. The intake is actually a lot quieter than I anticipated - the 2 together are still in the "relatively sedate" category. For my purposes, this is fine - it's virtually silent cruising, gets a little louder under load, and pretty aggressive >5k.

FWIW, I put the intake on top of the mppk intake box, but dinan apparently recommends the stock box.

I can afford one option for now as I purchased the MPE to install it this Saturday. I want to help the sound of the MPE and engine with the MPPK or Dinan Intake.
Does the air box on the MPPK help on sound?

In my case, MPPK and Borla exhaust, I can't really tell any intake sound difference.

MPE is a waste of money if it didn't come preinstalled with your msport/mppk.

Get an aftermarket one that actually gives some power gains as minimal as it is, preferably one that is a full system to replace the stock one that rusts.

The mppk airbox is slightly louder. Think going from 3 out of 10 to 4. Dinan is maybe 5.5 or 6.

Pre installed has nothing to do with it.

The sound is optimized when the car has the mppk because of more aggressive software controlling the valve.

Thats the thing, why pay 950$ for the MPE, and if I remember correctly, the exhaust tips are extra, when you can buy a better system that sounds better? I understand it's their money, blah blah, but I just can't see why people do it.

Maybe because I'm a performance over looks/sounds kind of guy, but when I spoke to a dinan tech when he was installing my intake, he stated the MPE is a waste of money as he could get his hands on a full system for its price. (1500$ including chrome tips where I live with taxes)

One of the main reason I'm going MPE route is because the warranty. I know Dinan will hold the warranty also but is more $$$. I really don't need that louder exhaust to pose as racer.

The dealer told me that my warranty will not be voided due to the aftermarket exhaust system, just the exhaust itself will be.

My borla has a million mile warranty on it.

To each is own.

Lol gotcha. I think the perk of the MPE is that it is the least expensive valve controlled exhaust on the market. With full BMW warranty. I'm not sure I will get the exhaust because I like the stock 340i sound personally.

No dealer can completely void your warranty because you put an aftermarket exhaust on your car. That is a violation of the Magnusson/Moss warranty act. If they void your warranty because you install an exhaust or an intake, then they are breaking the law. If your aftermarket exhaust causes your engine to seize up, then at that point they do not have to honor THAT PORTION of your factory warranty. They still would be legally obligated to honor other areas of your warranty (wear and tear items in the cabin for example).

I honestly think it depends where you live.

In canada the MPE with tips brand new costs around 1500$.

I paid 1660$ for my borla, which came in a full system.

I think thats about 1200-1300$ USD?

MPE costs 950$ USD brand new I think right?

I wanna say it's about 1500 in the states too. As for the 340's future exhaust...I'm not sure.

Also greatly depends on your dealer

If you call the dealer directly for MPE will be around $1400 normally. Now some dealer like Sterling sell them for $945 online on ebay. Also Getbmwpart.com with that price.

Yeah, you see I can't justify paying that much for a muffler.

The borla however was 30lbs lighter than stock and stainless steel.

To each his own I guess as you say.

In my case the dealership acquired the Borla exhaust and installed it on my car. (they also installed my ER charge pipe) I had the MPPK, exhaust, and charge pipe done at the same time.
