328i to 135i - Not sure??
Due to the current car being a replacement for a faulty one I am in quite a good financial position only 6 months into the PCP deal. This got me thinking, as much as I like and rate the 328i with it’s four pot turbo lump my heart is really with a straight six which i feel will become less available in small to medium cars as time moves on.... So options are another 3 series F31 340i or a M135i. My heart is leaning towards the 135i as I don’t really need the room of the 3 and fancy something ‘fun’ but reasonably refined. I do however prefer a bigger car but the 1 series seems to feel quite roomy. Any advice from those who have gone 3 series to 1 series or any other comments appreciated? Thanks

All those issues with the 328i made you fall out of love with it IMO. Man maths will always make it seem a good financial decision lol. M235i will be the better choice I think, picking up some M2 MP parts
Wonder if the M2 MPE can be easily fitted...

135i 5 door or f31 340i. One will be much cheaper than the other in several ways, but maybe better value?

In terms of holding its value I would have thought the M135i would hold more of its value, having been looking for a decent 18-24 month one they're still at £23k+.
Although if your buying on PCP this won't matter as much. The 1 is a great car to drive, I find it being smaller means you can have a bit more fun on the country lanes. |

This was an option for me. But I really wanted something physically smaller and with a little more "edge". I find the M135i perfect in town (8AT, smallish size) and great on longer journeys (better ride than my f30, ability to put on speed quickly and comfy seats).
I would re-order another tomorrow |

If you REALLY don't need the space and are definitely staying with BMW, I'd go M135i. Great chassis and engine, and has the edge/fun factor in spades. Devil's advocate : just be sure that the novelty factor doesn't wear off too soon. 3 and 4 series will provide greater refinement.

hmm not sure about this..
maybe with a manual box it might be a popular car in the future. Im just not sure its "special" enough to be a future classic, but that said its a car I would consider as my weekend future toy car.. I don't think its that different from other 6 cyl BMW's though either petrol or diesel.. which is why I would struggle with one in the garage for weekend fun I think
