Help please, to control music from phone on iDrive
I have an iPhone 6 and have recently subscribed to Apple Music. Ive downloaded albums (made available offline) but cannot get it to work in the car. The only way I can make music play from the phone is to open the Apple Music App, select a track and then press the play button on the screen of the phone.
I can search on the iDrive, find albums, tracks but when I select a track it won't play?! This is either by the iDrive or the steering wheel 'thumbwheel' - no matter what I click or press I cannot get a track to play unless I start it playing from the phone, which is then hardly hands free! I've gone through the settings over and over but cannot see what is out of place or what might be stopping the car from controlling the music on the phone. This is regardless whether I have the phone linked by bluetooth or the USB inside the armrest compartment. If I've set a track to play 'from the phone' it plays, and I can scroll through other tracks with the thumbwheel, which become visible on the head up display , but when I press the thumbwheel to select a track it momentarily selects by showing a 'tick' next to it, but within a couple of seconds the 'tick' disappears and it just continues to play the track that was playing. I can control all the music from the phone but not from the iDrive. I've also tried unpairing bluetooth from both the phone and the car and then re-pairing, to no avail! I will greatly appreciate it if anyone could advise me where I'm going wrong. Many thanks Ash Last edited by Lux700; 11-12-2015 at 12:27 PM.. Reason: Typo |

Apple play hasn't been instigated into the car yet, as far as I know. Same as it won't work on Sonos yet. I'm waiting until it does before I give it a try. Deezer / Spotify until then

Jut finished my 3 month free trial and it worked faultlessly via lightening cable for the whole time mate.

I'll try a forum search, but just thought someone may have the answer to hand. Apple Music is quite new, so also thought that it might be causing issues...

Just found a post where someone had had the exact same problem. They rebooted the phone and now all is well. I'll try this and report back to confirm, just in case anyone else is having the same issue.

Have you tried using Siri to play the tracks? I'm just about to start experimenting with this because it seems one of my he major strengths,of Apple Music when used in the car.

Granted there isn't an integrated app on Idrive like Spotify, but it works fine for me and plays music as if it was a normal song/album

Further to my original problem... thanks to a post I found by 'Meds', who suggested re-booting the phone - it worked!!! I spent far too long faffing around trying to solve the problem, when all that was required was a phone re-boot. Cheers Meds, and to everyone else who replied. |
