Exhaust is way louder after dealer visit!
So, took my car in because my car to the dealership yesterday for some fixing up. I was leaking some oil, and it started to have a really weird chirping sound. So i picked the car up i noticed right away it was much louder and i have some drone. I have been catless for the past 6 months so breaking it in was done.
Here is the list of things they changed, and will any of them change the exhaust note? Ribbed v-belt, mechanical belt ten, reflection pulley, oil filter gasket, and also the vent hose that i think was connect to right next to the housing gasket. |

Not sure any of those things could increase the exhaust volume, but I suppose they COULD have knocked the exhaust flap vacuum plug loose.
Search for golf tee mod on here. So you never indicated whether you were happy or disappointed with this change |

I did notice the power when I picked it up, but I thought maybe they restated the ecu. So it wasnt used to my driving? But after reading about the Wastegate problems I really think thats it.

Reason I refuse to take my car in. I have 3 open recalls for my car and I'm still not taking it in. Bunch of these techs get the job by knowing someone. They don't get them because they are superb mechanics

It would be yours for taking it in with the jb4 still connected. IMO, you can't expect them to work on your car and have aftermarket parts in their way. For whatever reason they removed the jb4 connector, they would have no idea what to do with it because its not a BMW part, so they just plugged them wherever they fit.

Yea always best to take out what you can, I worry less about them voiding my warranty, and more about their knowledge with dealing with aftermarket parts. Ive worked at dealerships before so I have this inevitable paranoia of others working on the car, it does save the bank though!
My pulley or belt have started making a slight rotational ticking sound for the first minute on a cold start, what were your sympotoms before you got them replaced? How bad was it and was it consistent even after engine warm up? I'm thinking of replacing what you did preventively. |

when i first noticed it, the sound was a chirping noise. I thought the chirping could have been from my oil gasket leak and was getting on the belts. Then slowly it started to become that ticking sound you are describing. I only noticed the sounds when i was parked or idle and even after warm up the sounds were still there.
if you need part numbers let me know. Quote:
