strut tops RIP

Hi,

so after arround 15 000km with replaced springs my OEM strut tops died, not happy with that but...the question is, I will be replacing the current setup that is hnr springs with stock shocks to kw ddc coilovers.

Are there any good strut tops or go with oem?

Thanks

Curious, what you mean your strut tops died? What happened to them? I have heard of strut tops breaking when hitting a monster pot hole or bump at high speed.

They make terrible knocking sounds when I drive and when I pull the spring is moves and make really weird sounds, I think the bearings went to hell or something

definitely surprised this hasnt happened to more forum members running h&r springs with stock shocks. just finished reading a thread discussing pairing bilstein b8's with the h&rs to potentially alleviate the problem. seems like the conclusion they came to was that the h&rs are way too short to pair correctly with any shocks.

Im currently running the same setup, and everytime my car hits the bump stops over uneven roads i have to apologize to my car...

thankfully coils are on the way soon.

~ me too!

I started with the h&r sports (way too low and crashed too often) - now I have the kw v1 set up - all is perfect!

Doesn't the street comforts also use the stock strut mounts? wouldn't the same thing happen as is happening to the OP?

not if the spring rate allows for further suspension travel. the h&rs are just too short. and im not sure if it uses the stock struts. i dont believe so but someone correct me if im wrong.
