Battery died..just over 50k miles
With less than 2 years of use and just over 50k miles my battery died, jumped it this morning but I barely got it to start so I know next time it might not start. How much am I looking at for a new battery?

This seems to indicate that there is a "92 amp" and an "80 amp" battery. You'll need a tool and software to do the battery registration. |

But it's probably related to the Active Start Stop feature where the car has to be able to know if the battery has enough charge and for how long to run the accessories before needing to start the engine back up. What I do find interesting is that it seems the OE battery is LESS expensive than a Sears Die Hard replacement... OE Battery (Exide) http://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/ind...&siteid=214672 Sears DieHard Advanced Gold http://www.sears.com/diehard-advance...1&blockType=G1 |

UPDATE: Dropped my car at the dealer this morning and asked to talk to a service manager regarding my issue (dead battery with less than 2 years of use and just over 50k miles) I simply and politely explained to him that the dead battery with such low mileage didn't seem fair and if there was something they could do for me, he said no problem we should be able to help you out since you bought the car here. They charged me $67 which I thought was MORE than fair since the battery alone it's over $300. So thank you Lauderdale BMW of Pembroke Pines for the good will gesture. Hope this helps if someone is in a similar situation.
One thing I was not able to confirm tho was wether the whole "battery recognition" thing is real or a myth....

Battery registration is real. The car adjusts the recharge rate based upon the type and 'age' of the battery.
