Stumbling/hesitation after Protune

I recently had a stage 2 aggressive Protune. Sometimes my car stumbles and hesitates really badly and sometimes shakes until I let off the throttle. This is not even very hard acceleration or wot but maybe 40-50%. I don't get any codes either. I'm almost certain I never experienced this with the ots map. Cobb told me it is misfiring and to change the plugs. It only has 39k on it. Anybody else experience this?

I haven't, but if you're at 39k and tuned then the plugs are definitely due.

Change plugs every 15-20k on a tuned n55. I had the same problem with 20k on my car, changed the plugs and haven't has a problem since. Im now at 48k with a FBO 2011 BMW 335 and have already gone through replacing the plugs twice because of that issue.

I just thought maybe the afr was off at some point in the tune since the ots stg 2 aggressive map doesn't do it. Did you get the Bosch ZR5TPP33S high power plugs?

I think others here got it. Stumbling as in misfires?
Any CEL, any codes? You have air fuel ratio metrics?

Could be a number of things but do as much homework as you can. Then get a list of what all could be causing the issue and work on fixing those issues based on logic (and heavily weight cost).
E.g. replace plugs, maybe Low Pressure Fuel Sensor (if codes dictate), maybe coils...

Then you can move on to more expensive items if problem isn't resolved.

^this. Just gotta think of plug changes at 20-30k as a routine maintenance interval because it is, well tuned.

Try talking to PTF. They would work that out in a heartbeat. May need to send them a log or two.

+1

If you had it protuned, have the tuner sort it out, or have PTF hook it up. There are plenty of reviews on here about them, and anyone on here will tell you, Dzenno at PTF is top notch. I had similar issues, and after bringing the gap on my plugs down to .018", it is running good enough for now until I buy the E85 compatible plugs.

I too experienced misfires after installing a protune. I had the spark plugs replaced and have had no issues since. My suggestion is that you get the plugs replaced. I got Bosch spark plugs from ECS Tuning.

I had an extremely rough idle and low rpm misfires at 44,000 miles, new spark plugs fixed it. They say to change them every 20,000 miles while tuned. I have a PTF tune.

I dont know if I'm having the same issue as you are, but it sounds similar to what I'm experiencing. Whenever I am backing out of my garage or into a parking spot, I can feel the car is hesitating or vibrating (not sure if this is correct word to use for what i'm trying to describe). And it also happens when I'm pulling into my garage as well. This seemed to happen ever since I installed BMS Stage 1 tune. Car has 56k miles now and runs fine overall. I was also recommended by a few shops to replace the spark plugs every 20-25k miles because of the tune, so I'll probably get this done when car reaches 60k and see if it helps.

What kind of fuel are you using? If you are running pump gas then its probably the plugs as others have said, but if you are running E85 blend it could be caused by that as well (if ethanol % exceeds LPFP capacity).

I learned that from Dzenno at PTF BTW, ditto the other PTF recs above if you can't sort it out.

Also, this hesitation/stumbling means that your protune is not done yet. I would talk to your tuner and have him dial in your tune until it stops happening.

I just had my spark plugs replaced this past weekend and the stumbling/hesitation issues I was having are now gone. Car runs smooth and fine now.
