N55 Performance Exhaust
I have a 2011 E90 with SP/PP (and Performance Edition - the OE "PPK" power kit). I am looking for a louder exhaust that what OE. Since BMW stopped making the Performance Exhaust, there are not many options I see (car is CPO and I'd prefer it keep it that way).
Any suggestions? I've done a search of the forum, but don't see any definitive direction - most suggest the BMW PE but that is not available anymore. I could try the PE mod, but does that void CPO warranty - anyone know? Thanks in advance. |

The PE mod wouldn't void your warranty. As far as BMW is concerned, it basically has the same affect as changing out the exhaust to a new one.
Worst case scenario they just wont perform any warranty work on your exhaust, and if your flapper valve thing in the left tailpipe breaks, they wont warranty that... |

EB89, most PE's available online are for the N54. Haven't seen any for N55. A couple, yes, but one was charging 1800 and the other 1500 which I felt was exhorbitant. Can you point me to any? Thx

They're the same part, I am pretty sure. It'll fit regardless of the engine.

Sorry to jack thread, but i got a question about the n55 performance exhaust. Did anyone notice a smell after getting their performance exhaust installed? is it normal or did the dealer messed something up?

a gasket issue or they didn't seal the clamps where they cut off the stock exhaust.

Go Dinan. I love mine. Its louder than stock but isnt too loud and has zero drone. Theres a lot of exhausts out there with way too much drone on them.
All are going to be pretty pricey though. $1500 is kind of average.

I have never seen a warranty voided because of an aftermarket exhaust.
We also carry the PE by the way

What about fitment on an E90 xDrive w/N55? I remember a bunch were on sale from BMW directly for something ridiculous like $650 or something back around April or May last year. I regret not jumping on that deal... In any case, would the BMW PE made for the E90 w/N54 work on an N55 then?
I've found plenty of BMW PEs online with the part number for coupes, but my I remember reading that the tips on a PE for the E92 may stick out from the bumper more on an E90.

Ditto. As a daily driver I don't think I'd want any louder. It's got a nice burble at idle/low throttle and growls loud enough when you get on it! Big improvement over the stock sound and not as ricey/abnoxious as the aftermarket.

We offer a pretty competitively-priced, full stainless catback for the 335. We keep the volume just slightly above stock, so it wont be overly obnoxious like some of the other systems out there. Heres a quick video of our sport system (Coupe part# 16388; Sedan# 15541)
We also have the Touring catback (16387) for the sedan, which is more mellow with a large single muffler, instead of 2. If theres any questions we can answer for you, give us a call or PM any time! |
