2013 BMW 335i: Rattles Solved / Belt Tensioner Replaced
Sharing an update about 3 separate minor rattle / noise problems.
- Buzzing / rattling sound (more pronounced at higher speeds): driver side air conditioning vent was removed and reinstalled with noise isolation materials - Suspected noise from AC low pressure hose: weight kit was attached. There is an SIB to address this problem: 64-01-14. - Belt tensioner generated 'click-clack' sounds at idle speeds. Replaced under warranty. Exceptional service experience at my local SoCal dealer. Will be happy to share the details via PM. |

For the AC low pressure hose, where did the noise come from?

Sharing an interim update.
The vehicle is back at the dealer. The first buzzing / rattling sound was addressed by replacing driver side air conditioning vent assembly and adding more isolating material in the A pillar. The second problem - originally diagnosed as a belt tensioner issue (replaced during the previous visit) - may be caused by a faulty engine vacuum pump. The dealer has another vehicle being serviced for the same problem with identical symptoms. BMWNA is involved according to my SA. The plan is to replace the engine vacuum pump in that vehicle first, test, and if successful replace it in my vehicle. Stay tuned for more updates. |

Interim update.
The dealer informed me that the second problem is being investigated by BMWNA. Apparently, other vehicles have the same symptoms. BMW TSE (technical service engineer) looked at another vehicle which was being serviced at my dealer due to the same problem reported by the owner. Stay tuned for more updates. |
