Best car shampoo
Just looking to buy some new car shampoo - I prefer hand washing the car rather than using power wash with foam lancers etc.
On this quiet morning...wondering what you guys think are the best car shampoo? Would also be keen to hear of good tar removers? I am a sad git and wash both cars every week (my neighbours slag me!). Thanks for any feedback. |

Another one for Born to be mild.
I use Gwash (Gtechniq) on wife's car and that is also really good. Another vote for Tardis. I also use Dodo Juice Lime Prime (both versions) as a pre wax stage. |

I use BMW car shampoo because everything else I've used causes the door seals to creak. I even use it in my snow foam gun and whilst it doesn't foam very well it still gives the car a good coating of shampoo before I get the wash mitt on it.

I use Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner.
For Tar remover I used to use Tardis but it's a bit strong (acidic) so i've stared using ValetPro Tar and Glue remover which does just as good of job and is PH Neutral. - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/engine.../prod_586.html |

Cleanyourcar have a 10% off New Year sale so it's a good time to go shopping.
I use Meguiars Shampoo plus or Hyper Wash and find both excellent and very smooth. |

It appears that some do. It's the top felt seal that rubs on the trim that seems to cause the creaking. I've had no problems with the current car and have used nothing but BMW shampoo. Previous car, exactly the same model creaked like mad after a few months. I was using a few different shampoos at the time.

Tardis is pretty strong stuff (Whether it's acidic or alkaline) and i'd heard a couple of horror stories of it damaging paintwork etc. A few detailers don't recommend it, so I moved on to the PH Neutral Valet Pro stuff and it does just as good of job and smells slightly better too.

Interested in the Tardis value, I'll take a sample into work and use a pH probe as opposed to paper.

I have tried many and always reverted to either born to be mild or autoglyms shampoo (found it great actually). Now I use gtechniqs shampoo as the whole car is gtechniq'd and I think it's very good.
Tardis is fantastic stuff. I now use gtechniqs tar remover; effective and kinder to exo/c5 but with less bite and less value for money than tardis. OP- don't forget an iron/fallout remover. Great, especially on wheels, and a joy to use 2-3 times per year. I have always used iron X, and again (boring) have moved to gtechniqs version. |

+1 for the CarPro IronX on wheels. Just spray on, leave a minute, give them a quick brush, power wash off and they're like new. I moved onto CarPro Trix after IronX as it's meant to have tar remover built in too but can't say it's much better.

I use the same, for the same reason. I also had loads of trouble with door creaking on my old E90 with other products. I personally wouldnt risk using any other shampoo as there have been many stories about creaking doors when folks have used other quality branded products.

Dug it out this morning and it includes alloy and car wash (maybe I should've opened it before - oooops!). Used the car wash today - very happy with the results. Both cars came up gleaming! Will use alloy cleaner another day. |
