Dinan springs and bump stops

I'm sure this has been discussed in length on the forum. I'm pondering the idea of lowering my f30. I drive a rwd 328i sport line. I'm considering the dinan springs and bump stops for a conservative drop. I don't want to spend a ton either as I live in Canada where winters are ugly and roads are worse. It's not a daily driver but I do occasionally drive it during the winter. My question is for you guys who've had this mod done. How is the ride and handling and is the suspension bottoming out with a couple of passengers in the car. Do you guys prefer your cars with the dinan mod or were you happier with it stock. How many hours was the install. Thanks

They are designed and engineered by Dinan pair each other in order to achieve top ride quality and performance. I do not like f30's suspension. My 335i feels mushy and slaggy on tight corners.

Install will take 1-2.5 hours depends on skill levels.

Let me know if you have more questions!!!

I've gone the Dinan route, but my car is an xDrive model with EDC, and I did not pick up the bump stops.

I've had up to 3 passengers in the car, and I've never had any issues with bottoming out, even with the stock bump stops (which are longer). To my understanding, the purpose of the revised bump stops is to give a bit more shock travel before bottoming out and I guess they also work in tandem with the springs to provide a progressive rate. Please do correct me if I'm wrong here.

I'm much happier with the springs than when the car was stock. There's less body roll, and seems to be less bouncy than stock (especially a problem on xDrive models). Car is more composed in corners and when taking on ramps. I would not hesitate to do this again if I had to get a new car tomorrow for whatever reason.

Actual install time was probably 2-3 hours. I was in the shop for a bit longer, since I did mine at an indy, andthe owner (who worked on my car) had to go back and forth to deal with customers/phone calls.

I went that route and I was happy with handling improvement. But those springs do not match the OEM shocks 100% especially for non EDC cars. After about 8 month I decided to swap the shocks/struts with aftermarket units as the car was annoying on uneven roads.

Never bottomed out with these Dinan springs. As for winter driving I had zero issues.

If you really want a fun car to drive on any road and weather condition, do yourself a favor and go with either coilovers or a combo. Do not spend twice on parts installation and alignment. Get it right the first time.

Even on an EDC car, I find that sport mode suits the springs much better than comfort. That's probably why the Shockware changes the comfort setting to something very similar to sport.

Do you sell the set? If so, pm me a quote, including shipping costs to Winnipeg Canada.

I'm confused on the EDC. How do I know if I have this on my car. Is it the switch next to the shift knob that changes from comfort to sport to Eco pro??

No, all cars have that toggle switch.

-With EDC, it will also adjust (on top of engine, throttle, and transmission management) your damping settings.
-Without it, your damping settings remain static.

Best way to check if you have it is to look at your window sticker (if you still have it). It will be called Adaptive M Suspension and it may be bundled or a standalone option depending on what year your car was. If you don't have it anymore, you can use one of the VIN decoders and it will tell you.

Great, thank you. I used a decoder I found online. No EDC btw

Late to the game here, but I have the Dinan springs and stops on my F30 and I love them. Worth the money.

Been 4 days now. Left a voicemail with my local BMW dealer for a quote on the Dinan spring set up.....Typical of the idiots not to get back to me with a price. Prob for me is that the Canadian dollar is worth shit right now and anything I order from the US is gonna be pricey

Birchwood BMW is typically pretty good. If you still haven't heard back give them a call and ask for Greg Hart. He should respond even if you get a voice mail pretty quickly.

You can also try Budds' BMW in Ontario. They can have Dinan drop ship it to you.

Late to the game here, but seriously considering Dinan springs for a pure stock suspension. Any problems? I'm adding 18x9 square setup this spring and really don't have the cash for coilovers right now so thinking this might be the best of both worlds. Just plan on adding coilovers in the next few years.

Do you have EDC?

If not, and you plan on coils in the future, I would personally suggest that you just hold off and get your wheels/tires first. No point in doing the job twice.

I know exactly what you mean. The gap is rather unsightly lol.

Maybe you could get coils first? The stock wheels aren't half bad looking on a lowered car.

Do it, well worth the money, add Dinan Shockware to tighten up the steering. I have a 2013 335 X-drive, made the car drive able, eager to play. Prior to this, the nose would literally bob up and down between shifts (manual tranny). Car felt soft and unsettled, with these springs, bump stops and Shockware, it's a new animal. Haven't had any problems bottoming out with or without passengers. And I think it is more comfortable as the damping has improved.

What shocks/struts did you end up purchasing? Imagine this cost about the same as a coilover set by the time you bout the shocks/struts??
