100,000 miles
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com The car has never been north of Palm Beach which is 60 miles from my house. The car has been babied--it has not been above 150 mph. I do my best to avoid carbon buildup by hitting three digits at least once a day, but only for the mechanical benefits. I usually get about 10k from the PSS rears and 20k from the fronts. It has had four HPFPs. The extended 50-100k warranty was well worth it. It is serviced at Braman in Miami with Marcos Rodriguez, who has been superb over the years. Almost five years later I still get thumbs up from other drivers daily. The paint is maintained with Zaino Z2 and Z6 and the guys at Braman say it has the best shine of any car that comes in there. The mechanics (and others) frequently try to buy it from me. Without further ado: |

fantastic! i'm at 78k miles so appreciate your outlook on getting to 100k. I do NOT have extended warranty and thus far i've been very fortunate.
have you done any maintenance or replacement to the following: - Hoses/belts - Suspension refresh? mounts/bushings, etc... I did a walnut blast carbon buildup cleaning at around 60-65k miles and it was worth it.....i drive 'brisk' so i wasn't expecting a lot but it was there. If you haven't done it i would recommend you to do it anyways. Also replacing your thermostat/water pump if you haven't already... |

Great write-up, thx for posting
Woah, I was hoping to hit zero HPFP replacements at 100k. Anything particular (like you throwing in a hand full of Miami beach sand at every re-fill for good luck) or pre-emptive replacements, or ... ... (too many to be just bad luck?) |

Showing average 14.6 MPG, daily triple digit speeds... working the HPFP hard.

He drives pretty hard. South Florida is a terrible place for twisty, elevation changing drives because we don't have either. But there are plenty of safe spaces to hit pretty high speeds.
A few years ago "Orange Flash" who I know as dad borrowed my E92 M3 for a few weeks because its DCT was less wear and tear on his recently operated-on shoulder than the manual in the 1M. He called me up at some point during the trade to ask why my car would "randomly" chime/gong when he was driving it. I racked my brain for a few seconds before a thought came to mind, which led to the question: "Are you by any chance going faster than 130 when it happens?" I asked because that was the speed I set the speed reminder for during the European delivery when I picked it up - 130 in seventh gear was around the upper break in RPM range, and for obvious reasons I preferred a chime to even glancing at the dash going those speeds on the Autobahn. I never gave it another thought when it got back home since I never heard it; while I don't drive like a grandmother, I also don't hit 130 very often (if at all) on public roads. His response to the question was a semi-grudging, ".....maybe." This was years ago, hopefully any applicable statutes of limitation have long expired. |

no doubt! IIRC I recorded 8.2mpg for a session at Eagles Canyon Raceway a track with lots of long straights and also some elevation change that is hard on brakes and heavy on fuel. But that's on the occasional weekend, and not every day!

I'm curious - what kind of shape is the car in re. body and interior integrity?
Do you hear the usual not-new-car plastic symphony of ticks and rattles and squeaks, or is it still tight and quiet as when new? |

The car has none of those older car plastic noises. I started getting those in my E92 after it was in a bad accident, and my wife's 1.5 year old Stingray is already starting to get them, but the 1M is pretty solid. The roads down here are good on suspensions and chassis (whatever the plural of that is) because they are so smooth. I suspect that cars stay tighter a bit longer in places like Miami compared to places that get frost potholes and see tons of 18 wheeler traffic. |
