Front windscreen heater - UK
Anyone can please tell me if the X1 is fitted with front heated windscreen or no?
My car is a 18d which it takes forever to warmup and for the ice to melt from the front windscreen!! My ford 2007 has a heated front windscreen and it takes 2min for the ice to melt!!! |

As far as I am aware there is no heated screen.
I have X-line and there wasn't even an option otherwise it would have been the first thing I ticked. Mine also takes an age to clear. Unfortunately it's back to the can of de-icer and scraper! (not what you expect on a £40k car) |

I'm also disappointed that I couldn't get this (Having had it on Fords, and would have if I'd bought a VW this time).
I'd rather have this than heated seats (Much as I love them on a cold morning!) |

This is really disappointing, the button clearly showing heater but I guess this is an air heater not wired! not sure if this is a misleading or no!
Is there any other BMW that comes with heated windscreen? |

first frozen windscreen in UK this morning, and i was out scraping it with a credit card.
My 1 series E81 used to melt the ice in seconds using just the blower, but the F48 just doesn't blow hard enough to do anything. damn. |

Nevertheless, this morning at 6am and -4 deg.C. , I was wishing it would heat up faster

what i really wanted is the "webasto" heater but not available across the whole X1 engine/line range.
But they could at least bother to hide that option in idrive, I get mad every time I see it. |

Well sounds like we need a more low-tech solution ... there must be a windscreen cover that is suitable for the X1 ...
I'll start googling - my X1 arrives in Jan and I know it's going to be ice station zebra here! |

I used a cover over the windscreen, the type that has the wings that you put inside the car/doors. It rained & the car door cards got soaked just above the speakers.
Not had this happen on a car before. |

I've just made an interesting discovery!!
If you set the blower fans to highest, and direct it to the windscreen vents manually, it actually blows a lot harder than if you were to press the "windscreen max" button. I'll be doing that as of tomorrow morning. |
