It's a piece of plastic with some wires hanging out. Umm probably look out to see that all the wires are there. Don't know how it could suffer much ware n tare

Every six months or so they make some improvement, and there is no warranty or email support on used tuners, so buying used is not the same experience as buying new.

Cheaper used but no support. Its not very expensive new though so I'd go new if you can afford it. You might also consider getting a custom tune through PTF (or others) that is delivered via Cobb AP. More expensive, but customized to your car and your mods.

I bought a used one. You still get your support from the forums, but not in-depth from BMS. I haven't had any issues.

Terry had given me plenty of support on my JB4 I bought used, without really any hassle. He checked a few logs, gave advice on getting the jb3 I thought was a jb4 up and running, and even assisted in getting their inital pump gas BEF loaded. Hell, I even emailed on (iirc, it was a major holiday either way) Mothers Day when my car wouldn't build any boost and he responded with a fix within an hour.
The level of support I got I couldn't have been more impressed with, although I stand by my riddle suggestion. |

I wonder this same thing all the time. I guess I am hoping that JB4 would be like a "set it and forget it" thing if I find a map I prefer. It makes me nervous that it would need support because that insinuates there will be problems like boost issue mentioned above...
