Wipers and haze
My wipers have been far from ideal since day one. With every pass the wipers leave behind a hazy film on the glass which blurs the view considerably. I think the dealer may have put a coating on the glass for delivery cause it's always been like this.
I was a passenger in my car today in a rain storm and recorded a video: Two days ago I cleaned the glass and wiper blades with soap and water followed by rinse. Then I cleaned the glass with isopropyl alcohol 90%. It was spotless yet I still have this hazing effect. Is this a sign the wiper blades need replacement? If so, which brand do you guys recommended? If not what else could I try we get a ton of rain here and this needs to be resolved. Thanks in advance

Try using a clay kit and windshield polish. My car was delivered with no streak or hazing of the windshield at all during rain, so there's probably something on there.

When you clean the windshield also clean the wipers. They may also have some of the stuff on them that the dealer put on your windshield.

Seems the dealer just did a shit job on your windshield. It can happen, you really have to wipe that crap in good. Several passes usually, but the results are great.

How old are your wiper blades? I replace mine at least once a year. We both know how much rain we get! I figure we use are blades a heck of a lot more then most places. When you first notice the blades leaving some steaks I recommend wiping the blades with Isopropyl alcohol. I find that extends the life of the blades. Also a coating of RainX can help.
The factory blades are not cheap but they install easy and I think they are very good. That will cure your problem right away. |

If you still have an issue after cleaning the glass with alcohol, the issue is your wipers. Try cleaning the rubber with some soap and then give it a wipe with the alcohol. Depending on your locale, inserts may need to be replaced as frequently as every 6 months. In my experience, OE are best.

In the past month I have scrubbed the glass and wipers with soap and water, cleaned with alcohol and also used Stoners on a separate occasion. I don't think I can "clean" the wipers or blades any better so it must be worn out blades.
I will pick up some new blades and report back.

I've had my car for a week and they were streaking after the first real rain. So I'm not sure, it might some kind of compound they use to clean the windows with.

I have reported wiper issues during service visit and gotten them replaced with no questions, so if I were you I would ask about it. Also when washing I always get grime off the blade that puts a black streak on my mitt because they are soft and grime sticks to them.

This is one of the classic detailing conundrums. This naturally occurs too.
Even with a good sealant you can still get this where you will see it at night, but on my car it just evaporates away so quickly you don't notice. Heres a test. Go buy some polish like M205 and polish a small section of the glass and see if it still does that.

THIS is what comes off of BRAND NEW OEM BMW wipers with Goo Gone. I've learned over the years that BMW blades will leave marks if you don't clean them along with the windshield regularly, and the first thing I do when I get new ones is clean them with Goo Gone, followed by water.
I never have any streaking problems and they last a long time.

This is a v common problem with cars.
U need auto glass polish and auto glass cleaner. U need to use it kind of once in couple of weeks. I use rain x product. Follow the instructions and also make sure u Clean wiper blades softly with this. Don't rub hard on blades. No need to buy new wiper blades |
