Hi HP Autosport & all friends, what is the recommended spring rates when fitting the Ohlins MP00 kits onto a 2017 BMW M240i, with the assumptions of mostly daily commute and very occasional track drive? The car is in stock condition except that the exhaust system was upgraded to Akrapovic kit. Understand that Ohlins kit has published sprint rates of front 60N/mm and rear 160N/mm. Open to suggestions on replacement rear springs as well.

Thanks a lot!

I went with 7kg/12kg swift springs for my M140i, daily driver with occasional track day.
Very happy with it.

I'm using my car the same way, and am running similar spring rates:

F: 350 lb./in. - 6.3 kg/mm - 61 N/mm
R: 600 lb./in. - 10.8 kg/mm - 105 N/mm

For me, there's no compromise on the street, and the shocks & struts do a decent job of controlling the springs on the track.

The car's builder, TC Kline Racing, initially recommended 550 lb./in. in the rear. He increased that to 600 when we decided to install the Turner Motorsport Solid Aluminum Subframe Mount Kit.

They do.
The 16kg rear springs supplied by Ohlins were not very enjoyable on the road.

And I do recommend purchasing from HP Autosport. My front struts came pre assembled with the swift springs and Vorshlag camber plates.

Thanks a lot for your answer. Unfortunately I have already booked a set of MP00 in my home country. Should have bought it from you...

Now the rear springs fitted onto the M240i do seem to be too hard. I'd like to seek your advice regarding replacement springs to work with Ohlins shock absorbers.

As you mentioned the recommended replacement to be 120N/mm springs from Swift, I'd like to know the specific model number please? I also found that 4x904R from Swift for E82 135i is still available. I'm wondering if this set is a better fit for M240i to work with Ohlins DFV (3.5vs vs 6kg front, 9kg vs. 16kg rear)?

Thanks!

This setting seems to be right. I'm wondering about whether Swift Springs kit for E82 135i can work with Ohlins DFV on F22 M240i is because I saw that 3DDesign in Japan provides its own suspension kit for F22 with similar spring rates as Swift's E82 kit. URL: http://www.3ddesign.jp/pro_sus_page/1101-22211.htm

Would love to see more discussion and advice on this. Thanks!

Spec-R front springs won't work with the Ohlins R&T, the rears will.

The specific Swift linear rate spring in question is Z65-228-120.

That is a very close guess of what the price would be. Price will be finalized once the kits land in the USA.
