Snap-In Adapter

Does 6NS Convenience Telephony with Smartphone Connectivity come with a Snap-In adapter or do you have to purchase the Snap-In separately? I have an iPhone 6 and wondering if the car will come with the adapter.

I'm not quite sure what type of adapter you're talking bout but my X1 didn't come with any type of telephone adapter. You can use the USB connector or an after market USB to 12v adapter. I'm also in Canada so I guess we get the same model.

The Snap-In adapter is sold separately.
The iPhone 6 adapter is $230

Not worth the money imo

Had one in my F10 for my previous Samsung, no real benefits over using a USB cable bar the fact that it uses the external antenna. However there was no album art, which you do get via USB. Didn't buy another when I got my iPhone 6

Actually, I think you need to purchase the additional antenna amplifier accessory for it to get any reception benefit. At least that was my understanding when I looked into these for my F20.

Total waste. I bought one for my current car. Rarely took the time to put my phone in the cradle. Eventually when I got a new phone I just kept the old one in the car at all times as a music device of sorts. Should have saved the money.

I only learnt of this through the F20 section of this forum, and then exploring the parts listings on Realoem.com
Unfortunately, dealerships tend not to be the font of knowledge they ought to be on this, or other technical matters.
You can test if you have antenna amplification by putting the iPhone into field test mode, and checking the signal strength number in the top l/h corner, first outside, then in the snap-in adapter.
(Field test mode -- From the iPhone keypad, dial *3001#12345#* and hit the ?Call? button)

Good to know.

Is there a USB port inside the arm rest compartment or is it in the compartment under the arm rest when you flip it up?

Guess all these question will be answered once I get my car sometime in March.

Good question I was just thinking the same! Forgot to check on the test drive!! I just ordered the car for my wife and it doesn't arrive until June, so I guess you'll find out before me....

USB Port is at the front of the compartment under the centre armrest (Have to flip the armrest to to access). I'm not sure if you get another one with "Advanced Phone Connection" (Which I don't have).

My iPhone 6s never seems to have any problems with getting a signal (I just connect via bluetooth), although having a glass roof instead of a metal one probably helps.

What baffles me is why they still put a cigarette charger socket in the back, why not have twin USB outlets....

Not as elegant and a bit fiddly to "install" the phone (which could be a reason not to use it as often as we want to) but this could be a "long"-er term option if you think you'll be staying with the Apple (lightning) ecosystem:

It's not specific to a form factor so may provide a little bit more longevity (if and when they move out of the current iPhone 6/6 Plus format/size).

Have been mulling this but haven't bitten the bullet yet.

I've seen $US195, so if you can buy it for $260...hit it! (and please let me know where )

The $260 was a quote from North Shore BMW (NSW) when I was working with them on buying the car. Will try to ask again (from their Parts Dept or Lifestyle folks) closer to the delivery of the car (didn't end up getting from them ... long story).
