Exhaust mods on N55

What else can I do to make my car louder (maybe more pops and gurgles)?

Where can I buy an X-pipe? How will I know exactly what it will do to my exhaust note?

Is taking out the secondary cats an option? Going straight pipe? Where can I buy this pipe? Again, how will I know what it will do to the exhaust note?

Right now I have, AR downpipe and Remus race quad. Sounds great but I have room to go louder

Sounds like you'd really only be satisfied with straight pipes. Have a shop weld them for you; shouldn't be expensive. Might want to throw on a pair of vibrant resonators as well.

Do the ppk flash for the pops, dont kill the car with too loud.
mine has catless DP and stock exhaust, i will do my muffler soon but nothing to extreme, its just calling attention the wrong way.

I have a Cobb tune. How do I get the PPK Flash? Will it affect my tune? How much is it?

Yeah, I agree with you. Too much loud may not be a good thing

Sure you can, ull need to uninstall your Cobb, flash it, then reinstall Cobb. I spoke to Joe@topgearsolutions and he was willing to remote flash it for me. Shoot him a pm.

You cannot stack a Cobb tune with the PPK. It is either one or the other. When you install a Cobb tune, it will back up the PPK settings then it'll completely write over them. Then when you uninstall the Cobb tune, it will restore the PPK settings that you had before. Again, you cannot stack them.

Correct. But the pops and gurgles from the ppk tune will remain. Cobb flash doesn't touch that part of the sw.

Sorry my post wasn't clear, but as far as any exhaust related part of the PPK goes, it stays even with a Cobb.

Ok, I've read that if you have updated DME (I have 98G0B from the dealer), you cannot do the PPK because then you won't be able to reflash to the COBB. Is this true? Or did I read it wrong?

Do you guys have experience with the PPK and a Cobb tune. I'll talk to Joe@topgear as well

He just did mine last night, took about an hour.

Def. recommend PPK, too easy and cheap to not have. Very happy with the results. I turned my jb4 to map 0 and it was fine, so similarly you will need to undo your Cobb and out it back afterward.

Yeah, I'm going to do it when the weather warms up and my car is out of storage

Did you do straight pipes to the mufflers (keeping the muffler intact)? Idon't want to sound too loud

What does the PPK add other than the pops and crackles? I have a JB4, DP, CP, similar to you... thanks

Gives you a power increase when not using jb4, or before the car warms up. But its noting crazy in that sense. I really think it makes our n55s sound like they should off power, a little burbly. Well worth the price of a nice steak dinner.

Learn coding and you can get it for free, or pay a workshop/coder to flash it for you.

BMW charges $1-2k for it but on your car it should work without the activation code, looking at your model year it's an N55 engine...
