Having trouble deciding on which sealant to get
Trying to decide what sealant to buy for my mineral white 2er. I'm torn between Chemical Guys JetSeal and Adam's paint sealant. I want a sealant that can be applied by hand, offers great protection and will last a few months before needing to be reapplied. Leaning towards Chemical Guys since they say that theirs will last 12 months, but I'd apply at least every 6 months. I'm open to other suggestions as well.

Sweet, thanks for the recommendation. I've used Menzerna's FMJ before. Really liked it. I think I'm going to rule out the Adam's. I want something that will last longer.

Try Chemical guys Blitz. I am definitely hooked to it. Its a sealant but can be sprayed and hand applied. Extremely easy to remove. Will last 3 months with proper care

I applied Swissvax sealant last June and have only waxed once since and my car is still holding up like I just applied it. Water still sheets off and mist beads nicely. Most of the time pressure washing is all it takes for a quick cleaning.

I have their hybrid v7 detailer/sealant. That's going to be the top coat. My plan is to wash, clay as needed, seal (decided on power lock), probably a second coat of power lock, synthetic wax and then v7. Probably overkill, but that's the name of the game lol.

So I decided to go with Power Lock. Man, this stuff is really good. I added two coats waiting several hours between coats. I didn't have time to wax and while PL makes the car feel super slick it doesn't quite have the shine I'd like. I'll wax and add another spray detail/sealer on top of that.

Car Chemicals are like women's cosmetics... lots of choices, big $$ industry run by marketing. But synthetics are great. Polish/Glaze/Seal/and then Wax and you get a concours finish!
I've been using this ; Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealnt http://www.autogeek.net/wg5500.html |

That Wolfgang sealant looks like something I should get for the wife's car. I'm pretty much am only ever going to add one coat of a product on her car. If that will seal and shine then I'm happy. Thanks for the recommendation.

I would suspect the Wolfgang sealant is going to be pretty similar to PowerLock. There's a partnership between Wolfgang and Jescar and/or Menzerna, some of the Wolfgang polishes are based on Menzerna polishes.
Having said that, there may be more gloss and shine enhancers in the Wolfgang but that is probably best heard from someone that has used both. |

Just applied Wolfgang sealant 3.0 on the f80. Easy to apply and remove, waited 24h for cure and then applied Adams Americana wax. This was my first time applying a sealant. So shiny and smooooth!

Try Mother's Synth 2.0. It goes on easy, lays even, buffs off without much effort even in full sun. The commercials always say one thing and then real life is another. This one is pretty spot on though. Then top it with some wax and you will like the result.

I agree that Sonax is a great sealant to use. I applied it as soon as I picked up my wife's 2016 X5. I bought a winter setup and before putting on the tires I coated the black gloss rims. This car was so easy to keep clean through the winter. Plan to do the same in a few weeks when my son gets his M235.

I'm pretty pleased with power lock so far. My rims are so easy to clean after sealing them. I'm not happy with the Meguiar's synthetic wax. It doesn't go on even no matter how much attention I pay to it during the application process. You can just see some spots where there looks to be more wax than other spots. Protection looks good though.

Have you considered just using a good natural wax? Since you sealed it the protection is there and the wax is just for the shine and depth that you want. You have Mineral White Metallic and the natural carnauba will really make the metal flake pop in the sun, which is hard to do with whites.
Yes, the synthetic waxes will last a bit longer but the trade off is less depth. It pretty much just comes down to how much time you want to spend waxing. The higher end natural waxes will wipe off very easily because they have less "filler" in them to harden. I have been suing Dodo Blue Velvet and once I pull it out in the sun after buffing it off the sun evens it out in about an hour. Then I spray it with cold water and blow it dry. The results are crazy.
