Smoke on switch off

Just finished a run back from Portsmouth to Surrey and on switch off I noticed smoke/steam coming out from the front kidney grilles - popped the bonnet and no source could be seen - seems like it could be coming more from the front of the car and not the engine bay - I am thinking radiator or oil cooler in the lower front air dam - anyone else had this or care to give an opinion

Cheers in advance

If it's raining there as it is here I would think it would be water hitting your hot radiator.

Yes it is raining here but it seemed a bit whiter smoke than just rain hitting the hot rad - you could be right though - the engine temp dial was bang on the money and the i-drive check shows no issues - just looked a bit worrying - looking out the window it is not doing it now the engine has started cooling

Maybe check for any pools of liquid under the car in a few hours just in case.

I had the same a couple of weeks ago after a run in wet weather.
Stopped, switched off the engine and steam billowed out from the front
of the car.
Got out, had a look and steam was issuing from the right hand kidney grill.
Never happened before or since.
If it is just rain water it must be hitting somewhere which must be well above boiling temperature which of course must be the radiator which could get well above boiling temp as it is a pressurised cooling system for sure.
The oil cooler gauge at the time was normal at 100 deg C.
Am just a little surprised but not unduly worried.
