Anyone trading their 1M for a M2?

Anyone here considering or have decided to trade their 1M for a M2? What's your thoughts?

I do not have a 1M, and if I did, I would not trade it in.

Did I win?

I sold my 1M with the sole intention of replacing it with the M2...and I'm not afraid to say it

If I were to sell my 1M for something a little more current, it'd probably be the GT350R or the focus RS. They're the only things within the M2 price range ($15,000 either way) that I fancy. The M2 would constantly get judged against the memories of the 1M and I'd more than likely sell it to buy another 1M within 5 years.

It's funny, I considered an RS until this car came along, and after that it wasn't even an afterthought. I just can't get over the horrid styling of the thing.

GT350, no way I'm driving a 526HP daily. M2 sat squarely in the middle.

I turned in my 1M and my Cayman GTS.

I`m looking forward to the M2.

I'd say you're crazy. Wait till you have a drive in a M2 and then decide. It'd be easier to buy an M2 than to find another 1M.

If I had a 1M I would keep it as a track car and probably get a 3/5 series as a DD.

We don't have alot of review so far but from what i can see the M2 is a slightly better car than the 1M nothing new. I handle a bit better doesn't even seem to be faster in a straight line. The brake seem like to be able to take more abuse and have more technology. The raw feel of the 1M isn't replicate. So I will save 72000$ and keep the 1M.

That 1M must be in awful shape if you'd need another 72,000 to move into an M2. In the US the 1M is going to cost you almost the same as a new M2. I'd like a 1M at $30,000, but not $50,000.

There is no question that the m2 is going to be supremely awesome in every way.

With that said I think once the new car bluster/hype dies down in a year the true attributes of the 1m vs m2 will be more clear.

Just like every other bmw it will be EXX > FXX when it comes to handling and driver involvement. But if you need a supreme dct or absolute top end power go with the FXX.

For that reason I would keep the 1m. But again that takes nothing away from the m2 which will be superb

If they fix the traction control issue and mirror M2 steering dynamics with the F80, an M3 will be my next car once I am done with the M2. Hopefully I don't turn into a complete asshole like the rest of the F80 drivers I've seen/come across.

I wouldn't go so far to say the M2 is supremely awesome in every way. It'll outperform the 1M for sure, but from the reviews it doesn't possess the Jekyll and Hyde character of the 1M that makes it so fun to drive.

This is true, I agree. As time goes on, cars are becoming more well rounded and easier to drive at their limits. I guess folks are maturing and wanting to cater to wider audiences.

Surely another reason why the M2 will be nowhere near as limited as the 1M, since it will be a much more generally desirable, universally acceptable automobile.

No M2 over the 1M for me!

1st: The anticipated lack of steering feedback (low and mid frequency) is being reported from several first M2 reviews.

2nd: Rear arches and mostly rear fender make the M2 side view an odd mix of both too blend and too messy.

On the plus, the extended M2 color palette and extended range of factory options (in most EU countries) do not make up for the above deal-breakers.

Ford Focus RS still under consideration.
